Stand by me was released 38 years ago today (1986). Based on the Stephen King short story, The Body, it was a critical and box office hit, and is now considered one of the best coming of age films of the 80s.

Weird Science was released today in 1985. I adore this film. Kelly LeBrock was beautiful, Bill Paxton was absolutely brilliant and the whole thing is endlessly quotable, this scene is alone is filled with great lines. Not bad considering John Hughes wrote the script in just 2 days

On this day in 1988, Bruce Springsteen played in front of well over 160,000 people in East Berlin. It was the GDR’s and The Boss’s biggest concert. As a working class hero, he was acceptable to the authorities, and it was hoped that the concert would please young people.
