I played the bejeezus out of Spider-Man PS1. It’s crazy how the DNA of that game still exists in every subsequent release to this day

Spiderman vs The Kingpin was the first Spiderman game I ever played.

But Spiderman 2, and Ultimate Spiderman, both on Ps2, were the most fun I’ve had in a Spiderman game. Granted, I haven’t played the newest one.

I LOOVVVEE the older open world ones. I’ve been thinking about getting the newer one for ps4 but do you guys know how it stacks up against the old ones? Is the newer one open world? Is there random crime fighting events to be done as you run wildly across the city?

If I get the newer one am I going to be disappointed??

I don’t think i ever got passed a certain stage in Spider Man 1…

Also never thought how how the web swinging between building was him attaching webs to thin air.

I loved how they even wrote not being able to render the ground into the story

“Mysterio has filled the city with yellow gas!”

Spiderman ps1! My favorite as a kid. Also straight up turns into a Resident Evil game at the final boss.

“SURF THE WEB, SURF THE WEB” – Venom

Apparently I’m the oldest person to post so far as my first Spider-Man game was on Atari 2600. I still can hear the splat he made hitting the ground. Climb the building and get past Green Goblin to diffuse the bomb.

Zoom in on the top you can count the pixels zoom on on the bottom one and you can count the stitches in the suit

Beat this game. It was amazing. They really took crazy strides along the way to get to Spiderman Remastered on PS5 or Miles Morales

I unironically prefer the PS1 games over the PS4 game. The boss fights were significantly more intuitive on PS1, the levels had huge variety with different goals and never devolved into a beatemup (except for the subway level, which was more of a survival goal anyway), it never got repetitive, it was true to the comic, Stan Lee narrated, and the final boss honestly remains the most tense boss fight I’ve ever experienced. The new one has fun gadgets, better graphics, and good open world swinging, but frankly it’s too long and doesn’t have nearly the same spirit as PS1 Spidey (open worlds kill the pacing in modern games, imo). The new Spidey is great, but I will always replay the old Spidey any day.

Was this Dreamcast Spider-Man? I remember playing that one while I was working and going to school living in a garage loft at my uncle’s house.

I also remember my first Spider-Man game I played was the original for the Sega Genesis (Sega Mega Drive) back in the 90’s.

Games were so much fun even then, but nothing compared to what we have now. Now with Spider-Man (PS4/PC) And Miles Morales: Spider-Man, you actually ‘feel’ like you’re Spider-Man!

It’s honestly one of the best video games based on superheroes in league with the Batman Arkham series IMHO!

This game is what started my love for spider-man.

Of course the movies were there but it was this game which truly introduced me to the universe.

I still remember the menu with all skins and backstories behind them and also those collectibles comics hidden in the levels.

A prime example of how can RT change the atmosphere of a game entirely. With it turned off, it almost looks like a PS3 game at times.

Yo OP. Lemme just give you a fun a little tip about Spidey PS4. Once you beat the game and have most of the upgrades and stuff. Do a new game + and replay the opening. There’s something ridiculously special about playing the opening with a fully powered up Spidey when you actually know how to play the game. I’ve done it like three times. its just amazing.
