Shoplifting? Some variation of powerlifting? Sport events at a gas station? Crazy life…
If passive aggressive was a sign
Mom and dad showed them how, they’ll be mad they got caught.
I wonder if someone could make a legal challenge that they saw it as store sanctioned contest.
It’s just a joke. Shoplifters don’t get arrested anymore.
Bold of the shop owner to presume the police will give a fuck about their store getting robbed.
I feel like this might rightly get your store targeted
Tell me this gas station is not in California without telling me it’s not California
My local police station had one of those lite signs that read ‘free warrant checks here’ and I love all the sass
Shoplifting is no longer a punishable crime
I don’t think you get taken to jail for shoplifting anymore unless they build a case with multiple offenses and then get you with felony trafficking of stolen property. Those “Smile, you’re on camera” signs are obsolete now too but I still see them. I just assume I’m on camera anytime I’m out in public.
I hate shoplifters. I am low income and dont shoplift. They are a blight on society and increase the cost of goods for everyone else.
Cuff him and throw him down some stairs. Say he tried to run away. Police don’t do shit. The hospital bill will be more of a punishment.
No one reads newspapers anymore
It’s like when I went to the apple orchard as a child. They had a sign that said “Unattended children will be put to work” I thought they were serious so I stayed very close to my mom the whole time.
If you shoplift from a gas station, you *might* be arrested, and unless we’re talking about the Police Blotter that *some* small newspapers still feature, you’re not going to get your name in the paper. This sign implies that shoplifting is a crime that comes with more significant consequences than reality actually dictates. I’m not encouraging shoplifting, or criticizing the shop owner for wanting to deter shoplifting, but let’s be clear about what’s actually true.
Shoplifting needs to be a punishable crime.
Some have no sense of satire and would take this as an invitation to fame and fortune.
If I saw this as a kid I’d have shoplifted so much. Getting to sit in a police car AND get in the newspaper was peak cool
This is my chance to become famous hahah
I doubt that’s going to be free though.
Shoplifting? I didn’t see anything.
What’s a newspaper?
And stealing is aggressive aggressive. Much rather have passive aggressive.
This is some boomer shit
free ride is a free ride
Do I get to keep whatever I shoplifted?
challenge accepted
🤣😂🤣 I have spoken
Must not be in California
I hate this tacky sort-of-thing.
Can hear the Thank You speech already
They also get a free pair of silver bracelets
it’s true
Ok lets go!
The only way they’d make the news is if they killed someone there and even then who knows. Which, you should definitely try to discourage that kind of behavior.
*Offer not valid in San Francisco
Unless it is a $3000 tv the police aren’t going to waste time arresting someone for taking a candy bar. I doubt they even show up.
Of course. Police will waste everyone’s time over a Twix bar, but will let a guy kill kids in an elementary school.
Clearly this isn’t in California
Encouraging theft in your store feels like entrapment to me.
