Malcolm is one of those shows I never really appreciated when it was on be it my mental ineptitude or just too young or whatever but now when I occasionally watch it it’s so damn good. Microcosm of the early 2000s.
This show has the biggest perspective change I’ve ever experienced.
I watched it when it was on tv and I was late teens to early 20’s. I related to the kids and thought Lois was a bitch and Hal was an idiot.
I binged it again last summer during the lockdown and after I had 2 kids of my own. The kids are brats, Lois is great, and Hal is doing the best he can.

Who is the actor that plays the teacher? And why does he look familiar
Malcolm is often a little selfish shit, especially as the show progresses, but this truly is one of his finest moments.
His rivalry with Herkabe gave us some of the best stuff in the show.
I also love the episode where he shares everyone’s secrets on the speaker and creates the most polite school in America.
Two thoughts:
1) The child actor casting in this show is pretty incredible. Kind of amazing so many of the Krelyboynes are able to keep up and be funny with such an idiosyncratic tone.
2) Pretty impressed fox shelled out for the Elvis Costello rights

The creator of Malcolm in the Middle also made a cartoon called [God, The Devil and Bob](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God,_the_Devil_and_Bob) which is pretty good. I think it would have lasted on non network TV.
