Still the funniest sketch show of my lifetime.
If you haven’t seen this before in it’s entirety. [spoiler] >!He first walks into another room where he is berated because rather than “Arguments” he wound up in “Abuse”!< which I think is also a great metaphor for Reddit.
It’s a fair cop
The worst thing you can do on reddit is sign up, the second worst thing is to leave something out of your argument since it’s common sense, they will pounce 100% of the time.
That was never five minutes just then
Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement another person makes…
[This John Cleese bit also works](https://youtu.be/HLNhPMQnWu4)
I’ve had enough of this… no you haven’t
My all time favorite Python skit. This version is abridged though…
No it isn’t
Nah, if that skit was accurate to how it’s like commenting on reddit, the first answer to the customer’s statement or question would have been a personal attack.
I recall at the end of the full skit, the police come to shut the whole thing down because it’s gotten intolerably silly. Or am I thinking of another skit?
Hey, we’re all arguing in our spare time.
Left out the best analogy to Reddit.
“Look, I came in here for an argument!”
“Oh, I’m sorry, but this is Abuse.”
I always loved this part:
“Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position”
“Yes but that’s not just saying ‘no it isn’t'”
“Yes it is!”
“No it isn’t!!”
Such a shame the official Monty Python youtube channel took down their copy of the argument sketch, it was unedited, uncropped, and HD. This video missed out the abuse room, the complains room, and the getting-hit-on-the-head lessons. By far my favourite sketch of theirs.
EDIT: [found it on dailymotion](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2hwqn9)
The last part, “I’ve had enough of this” -“No you haven’t” is positively DouglasAdamsian.
No it isn’t
Op left out the best part, OP must be a malodorous toffee nosed pervert.
I liken it more to be like this:
https://youtu.be/aJX4ytfqw6k
Screw editing python.
“Mr. DeBakey’s free, but he’s a little bit conciliatory.”
That bit always gets me even though the audience didn’t laugh.
**There is no arguing on Reddit.**
You say something, a mod doesn’t like it then hits you with the Banhammer. There’s no recourse, no arguing, no reason why, you are now banned.
Commenting on reddit is nothing like this.
I only argue on the company dime. Since it’s the weekend, I’m only here to say hello and agree with everyone.
I memorized this sketch when I was about 11. My older sister bought the record in 1977. I loved it, although I know now that 65% of the jokes were over my head.
All my friends in suburban NorCal thought I was a looney. I wanted to name my pet cat Eric.
To actually capture what it’s like to argue on reddit you have to add some gigantic spectator presence, which seemingly becomes the entire reason for the arguments. People need those back pats.
Not enough mentioning of Nazis for a Reddit argument
Who fucking cropped this video? ffs can’t go 5 seconds without one of the actors in the shot having their head outside the frame
My penis is very small
I hope a few youngsters are going to discover Monty Python because of this post – I am not sure I have laughed harder in my life than at Monty Python, especially at Holy Grail.
Op, you’re just a troll in Cleese’s clothing.
hi this is my favorite part
Reddit’s take on politics.
https://youtu.be/t2c-X8HiBng
I feel an argument on Reddit is more
Person 1: I like green
Person 2: why do you hate red?!?!
wasn’t always like this.
Wait, you guys are getting paid?
So glad I have the full Flying Circus on DVD.
Here’s a random cute cat picture I found on the internet

Starting an argument is half the reason I come here.
The other half is to see cool photos and videos. Then watch other people argue in science & history subs.
Where’s the guy that comes in and kicks him out of the building because they don’t like him?
This is every argument in a nutshell.
The handing over of money to extend time then John Cleese arguing he ever did. That was brilliant.
I say! It’s Not! I bloody disagree!
This isn’t like arguing on Reddit!
