But posting in the wrong sub is always bad.
“Introduce”=/=pass
That effort is going to go nowhere.
Shit for brains on the left should be in jail.
What’s the point of being a congress member if you can’t use your powers to manipulate your stock portfolio?
Can guarantee republicans won’t get behind this since im they can’t use it to go after Pelosi and it would require them to get behind something AOC does.
It is a tiny step forward.
Not at face value. Like everybody else, they need to put any savings into some kind of investment. How else could they do that? Become landlords?
Bipartisan is not always good.
What a weird timeline
If this is true, it would be easy enough for a member of Congress to have their spouse’s/partner’s own the shares, or own them through another legal entity… so what’s the point?
Bipartisan is good but populism is bad. Treating members of Congress like shit ensures only shit people run for Congress.
Matt Gaetz and AOC working together? Nah, I don’t believe it.
That statement is as moronic as this post.
There are so many loopholes to get around a straightforward ban that it would be completely pointless. Would probably better to compel a public disclosure of assets, let them own whatever assets they want, but have it transparent to everyone so it can be seen how financial decisions correlate with political ones.
Booooooo politics in this sub. That ain’t no pic.
I really hate both the circus-quality of politics and the news surrounding it, AND the relentless push to make every sub into twitter politics.
At least it gets me off Reddit. For all of my empty threats of mine that id quit over the years this trend is actually make me make good, im spending less time cuz there’s simply less interesting content.
I mean in all honesty I’ll still probably be standing on the bow when she goes under but it’s getting bad, boss
Matt Gaetz just trying to show he’s still hip and with the youths
r/lostredditors
I like this.
But your title is hilariously bad. The Iraq war was bipartisan. DOMA (preventing gay couples from getting marriage benefits) was bipartisan. Just some recent examples in modern history.
Lol a screenshot of Twitter is now on r/pics
Never should have repealed Dodd-Frank Act in the first place. The fact that these two are cosponsoring a bill is mind blowing.
Sleeping together???
Now their just openly screwing with each other. Who took what pill here?
This means absolutely nothing. Most people use a broker to do their trading.
great proposal but it wont pass.
Elizabeth Warren won’t be happy
Their spouses and children can own stocks though, right?
But what about a bi-partisan bill to prevent congress members from fucking 16 year old girls?
Them owning stocks or trading isn’t even the real issue to tackle, it’s that **they already have rules against this but do not enforce it when it happens**. Kelley Loeffler and a few others got completely away with trading stocks right before March 15th, 2020 when “lockdowns” due to covid started across the country. She sold very specific stocks after senators got classified briefings on the situation and right before the stock market took a massive dip on the 15th. Justice Department did not pursue.
There’s no point to this if they don’t enforce it.
Matt Gaetz and AOC working together is such an odd timeline but the bill is good so let it be
Not always. Actually it’s usually not. At least not in the US for sure but, I’ll take it.
I don’t need them to not be able to trade, but anybody in the finance industry has to clear trades before they do them, it’s not asking much to require government officials with intimate knowledge of insider information to do the same.
Preparing to move into crypto, I see…
Weirdest collab since madtv and WWF, but I like it.
It is insane that they can trade and buy stocks.
“Bipartisan”. The whole thing is a uniparty to everyone except the most gullible of citizens.
We’re letting screenshots through now?
Bipartisan is not always good. In fact, it’s often bad. We should judge proposals on their merits, not on whether or not they’re bipartisan. Having said that, I’m in favor of this proposal.
I support it, and I support term limits even more.
It’s a joke this has ever been allowed.
This has been tried for decades now guys
You would need to flip tables over the way Paris flips tables, with fire!
wrong sub
Matt Gaetz and AOC agree on something?
Finally something aoc has done I can be happy about
The only explanation is that he has bad eyesight and thought she was underage, so wanted to work with her.
