Genuinely one of the best shows ever. It was such a strange mix of funny, soulful, sad – just so fucking weird. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Something about *Eastbound and Down* didn’t click for me even though I loved *Vice Principles* and *The Righteous Gemstones*. I think it’s because the latter two are just so much more extreme and gratuitous.

Post Malones backstory.
I already felt that Eastbound & Down was the most HBO-est show that HBO ever greenlit.
Everything that isn’t allowed on any other tier of television or cable, that HBO would advertise is possible only on HBO, Eastbound & Down pushed that claim to the farthest limits.
Don’t really consider the fourth season to be all that strong, and it seems obvious that they had originally planned for the Season 3 finale to be the end of the show, so those three seasons I absolutely adore.
Especially Season 2. I mean, they absolutely make the best creative decision when deciding what is the most predictable and extreme thing Kenny Powers would ever do? And that’s taking his ass down to Mexico because he thinks he could get away with just about anything down there, after he had burned all his bridges back home. Season 2 was peak.
The bloopers with Will Ferrell are still the funniest I’ve ever seen.
