I have a laptop, and unfortunately all laptops nowadays want to be thin enough to squeeze in between atoms, so not initially. But i did buy an external one on amazon, gets the job done for my music and movies
White, beige, and black, those were your color choices. And every brand had a different hue of each so nothing exactly matched.
I still miss CRTs though. Even though it’s a really bulky technology, it was and still is good in most of the right ways.
I also really miss the PC speaker wars. Those were good times, the high point of PC audio which hasn’t been matched for decades since. My brother picked the Logitech Z560. I went Altec Lansing 641 to be different. Mmm, good stuff. Then they switched to quantity, 5.1, then 7.1, and the low price point meant everything just got cheaper and worse. The best PC speakers now are bookshelf speakers because nobody actually wants to make a somewhat expensive set. People are paying $1000 for video cards. There’s some headroom to work with.
No, but I still have Diablo I and II and the expansion, Fable The Lost Chapters (all FIVE discs), and Warcraft III. I might get an external drive, but idk how they’ll do on win 10
The IBM keyboard, the ViewSonic monitor, if the CD-Rom had been in the bottom slot I would have thought you taken this picture of my setup through a time portal or some kind.
I played Diablo Immortal for an hour. It got clear pretty quick how cash-grabby it was. Then I watched a video or two describing in perfect detail the full extent of the microtransactions, and then I deleted it and decided to never play it again.
But I still had that Diablo itch. So I booted up Diablo III for the first time in a year or two and started running Nephalem Rifts. Mmm mmm mmm. That feeling of loot dropping and numbers going up just doesn’t get old. And I don’t have to feel like I’m being squeezed for cash while doing so.
I think the dvd may be 5-10 years older that the rest
Right in the nostalgia
Anyone know if plexwrtier still makes cdx dvdx

What are those?
This is beautiful
Most of the old games that I play are “abandonware” so I end up just “you know” and use a digital drive to load up the iso.
The beige 😳
There was a time when you can choose a Combo CD-ROM drive. You can play DVD with it and you can also burn CDs. That was before DVD burner.
Yes, yes I do. And Diablo. Math checks out, I know what I must do tomorrow.
I still have a CD-ROM on my gaming pc but not one of those beautiful floppy drives. Lol. I still have floppy disks though, no idea what’s on them!
Need more mana.
Nah homie I just programed an app on me phone to speed run diablo, 100% erry time.
The sanctity of this place has been fouled.
My first CD-ROM drive came as a bundle with a Creative labs sound blaster sound card.
I miss my model M. I knew when I got rid of it that I would regret it some day, but I was heading off to college and didn’t want to store it.
I picked my pc case strictly on the premise that I could fit a disc drive and a monitoring system in it
Those where the days
How did you get such a high-res image of 1997? 🤯
You could’ve used that keyboard every day until today and it’d still look and work like new.
Nero Burning Rom.
A man of fucking culture.

Dude I Jerry rigged a CD-ROM drive into my desktop so I could play empire at war
You can literally hear the dial-up in this photo.
Uh its called a cupholder
This was the kids house id go over to “play” with and just end up on his computer playing diablo cus I didn’t have one at home
Doobs? Or should I say Penis Anthony Doublinier?
Looks like we need another skyrim port
That game was awesome!!!
My laptop and desktop both have DVD read/write drives.
My 1st ‘CD-ROM’ was a janky novelty disc designed for the C64 that used the cassette interface port to load in games.
If you still have the disk and a CD ROM drive, put it in and run the tool that checks to make sure your pc meets the minimum requirements.
Your 20 years newer PC will likely fail.

I had that very same beautiful bird adorned monitor.
NOSTALGIA!
Your computer is so cool! The two-color keyboard, the speakers…😎😎
No! 😠My case is not compatible… I need to buy one with usb connection.
I love your PC 😢spare me some teenage memories
this is a throwback
Not for about 17 years now. Thank you Steam!
I’m old. I still get so confused when I find out how many people don’t have optical drives in their computers.
The IBM keyboard, the ViewSonic monitor, if the CD-Rom had been in the bottom slot I would have thought you taken this picture of my setup through a time portal or some kind.
Man, talk about a classic.
Do you even floppy disc?

Stay awhile and listen.

I wish they’d remake the original. It’s the best Diablo game including D2. Change my mind.
Dupe some spell books. Make sure you don’t neglect stone curse for last layer of hell and the magic resist succubi-type monsters.
