I feel like the people that only saw the blue X were extremely confused. Like is the tube open or nah? Lol
They made more of these signs for release than they did consoles!
Oh God, I LOVE this.
Weirdest PS5 button mapping I’ve ever seen
The signs are now in the reception area of Sony Entertainment UK around the corner on Great Marlborough Street. You can see them from street level.
One thought is that it might be useful for colour blind people to identify lines by shapes instead of colours mainly when London has a considerable amount of lines. Putting it in the stations might not be very useful though. Despite that, looks like a good marketing strategy!
Celebrate? Or advertise?
I remember back when the PS2 was peak gaming, there was a special mail-in club you could join called “Playstation Underground”. They always sent me tons of demo discs and cool merch like a notepad/game holder zip-up binder thing and it felt so great as a kid.
And for the PS4 launch the OXO tower in London did a simar thing: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2507469/amp/PS4-release-gives-OXO-tower-Playstation-makeover.html
Dang imagine a world where big coorporates, especially game companies did easter eggs in real life, like the signs near the PS HQ have easter eggs like these… would be pretty cool ngl

That is so cool
I never like things like this because some people rely on the visual cues to know what’s going on, if you’ve been taught the roundal means the tube and don’t know English you’d be confused as fuck.
Same when they changed some of the station names for comedy effect a while back.
I love how coincidentally the circle sign was already red…
I’ve never owned a playstation. Had a 360 for ten years, just died a month ago.
But I love this kind of thing – playful artistic gestures that have crept past the grey, corporate radar. It’s like a glitch. You do a double-take.
How many signs were stolen when they did this?
This looks cool.
My deadass just read it oxenfurt instead of Oxford
I’m starting to understand why UK wants to block the acquisition.

kidding btw…before you get your nuts in a bunch
I saw the picture and I thought it signified different stations to help colorblind people
I’m shocked to learn this is the country trying to block the Activision merger.
Haha cool, it’s always so cool to see the state partnering up with megacorps to tacitly endorse their product. Go free market! So cool! The coolest!

Well the circle is still on every station
So cool iv been there
To celebrate the only thing in the world more delayed than the trains
Hmmm… this paired with the UK maybe blocking the Microsoft/Activision deal makes me suspicious.
I’m a fan of both and have both, but Microsofts philosophy in gaming is better for all gamers.
I feel like that wasn’t well thought out. A tourist knows enough to looks for the big sign for the underground, which is usually a big red circle. If they’re only looking for the circle, they won’t find the tube stations.
Only LGBTQIA+ can use the Triangle entrance.
This is so cute.
Ironically the PS5 has the first default playstation controller to not have colored buttons
