This used to be my favorite video game, but I can’t launch it on modern hardware. Is there any solution?

Have you tried running it via Virtual Machine on an older OS ?
There are several possible things to try – first of all launch the game on comparability mode
Second is to manually reinstall XP Mode to Windows 10 – which is tricky and might not work
Or setup a virtual machine with Windows XP – but if your are using an external disc drive the copy protection of BW2 might prevent it from working
There might be some fan comparability mod, the last time I installed BW 2 was still on Windows 7 and back then it worked fine, so I don’t know – if you need help with anything message me, I will look into it with you, I have a lot of experience with installing old PC games in New hardware but no guarantee we get our to work

recall playing it not that long ago and also the addon with Aztec gods or whatever so it’s not impossible

Beat fucking game!
This is the game that killed my Alienware (my first PC I got in high school saving money for before dell bought them out)
I was all excited to try it. Boot it up and the graphics card crashed. Sad days :/ never did get to play it! Seemed like a cool game. I think steam has a similar type of game that I remember a friend telling me about
You can get the game to run as I’ve got mine but I have no idea how I managed it 🙁
EA in Southern California. It was a great experience, one of the best experiences ever. Despite crazy hours they treated us so well. But tbh the best game I ever worked on there was Battlefield 2

Updated (unnoficial) or cracked versions online, virtualbox, emulators (older OS), dual boot machine, many solutions that might work

I would love to play it again. I tried a few years ago with the fan patch but I couldn’t get it to work no matter how hard I tried.

Last time I tried to play this (6-7yrs ago) I had to disable some aspect of my disk drive security so it would run the disk.
If it was literally any other company it would be on GoG but sadly not yet 🙁
Make sure you get the timer fix as well. I recently replayed and couldnt get any of my baby villagers to age. literally hundreds of children but theyd never grow up

I loved Black & White; for some reason #2 didn’t take for me. I think having more obvious feedback on how your actions affected the underlying systems kinda killed the magic.
B&W was probably not as complex, but because the AI mechanisms were obfuscated it really gave the illusion on a complex, I knowable system that that you worked with and hoped for the best.
It was a little bit of a dissapointment for me. I loved black and white 1 so I wanted a similar experience from 2. Instead 2 became a war simulator.
As for your question maybe you can try running it in a virtual machine.
Black and White was my favourite game of all time for a long while. I really tried to get into B&W2 but I just couldn’t. It just lost a lot of the charm from the first game imo.
I have always wanted to play this game, but it never played right on my machines. It would always be super stuttery and lock up.

man I played the crap out of B&W when back when it first came out. there should definitely be a re-make with updated graphics. they are a bit outdated at this point. i’m sure it would sell
