It’s a shame that being visually impressive was it’s only redeeming quality. I don’t think the rest of the game had enough joy in it to warrant a second.

I’ve been playing games since the NES days and that’s the most boring game I’ve played. Not necessarily the worst but maybe the most bland. But hey you think it’s pretty… so… that’s something… I guess
The thing about Ryse: Son of Rome is that it’s one of those tech-demo games. Very much like Order 1886. It’s one of those “look how shiny this looks, buy it and the only console it works on” things.
My point being – it’s their entire point of BEING that they look good.
I was gonna say, I don’t recall this game being that well received…

Looked amazing, the gameplay definitely not so much. Just thankful the story and cutscenes were interesting enough to keep playing it till the end
It was a pretty nice game but way too short and rushed. I enjoyed it as more of a “tech demo” i guess and proof of concept. Sort of like The Order was for the PS4.

God this game sucked. I probably beat it 4 or 5 times as a tester back in the day. And by beat it, i mean almost beat it in the 2 hours I had allotted before starting over again the next day/later that day.

Agreed, and the same applies to The Order 1886. Okay gameplay, pretty good if underbaked story, insane graphics, exclusive flop.
