[He’s certainly not the only one using this method.](https://youtu.be/a05kgcI9D2Q)
So when he’s in loud places he’s blinded by the sound or?
It seems like something all blind people could learn. It may take some time, but it’s not like he has special powers.
Just constant screaming.
RL daredevil
I heard about this kid. Didn’t he end up dying from a reoccurance of the cancer that originally took his eyes?
A great example of brain plasticity!
Because he does not take in visual information the same way people with functioning eyes do, the visual cortex in his brain (among other regions) is rewired to work slightly differently.

I love the doctor’s shout out to Ben’s mom 🥲🥰
Extraordinary
Psh. Not impressed. If you blindfolded me I could easily tell you where the clicking was coming from.
So, real life daredevil?
He’s definitely not the only person in the world who does that
It’s kinda cool that you can see how different a blind person from a young age does body language vs someone who can see
Read that too quick and saw ejaculation
Yall should read a book called [“See What I am Saying”](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/7606494-see-what-i-m-saying). I had to read it in psych class. It is essentially a bunch of case studies of (often) injured/blinded/deafened people that develop other senses that we dont use/havent acknowledged yet/cant explain.

Its a great book.
Good on the doc for giving the mom credit too.
Ray Charles also did this. He had special soles on his shoes that would produce a sharp click and would use them for echo location.

This is very old. I saw it many years ago and unfortunately he passed away not long after this was filmed.
I legit just broke a glass after 30 seconds trying to echo-locate in my apartment.
I could use echolocation to see I just don’t wanna.
This is insane. You can train the brain to make navigational decisions based on auditory processing instead of the usual and easier visual sighting. What would happen if they augmented the process with technology?
Don’t laugh please at the name but is encapsulates the idea- Sonar glasses. Sonar/Radar/Lidar sensors that create an multi layered array of haptic and audio feedback that could allow someone to navigate using greater amounts of information. The result could be faster walking with greater confidence. If the tech got good enough it would detect cracks and impediments and provide feedback to walk with more caution since precision can’t be provided. Kind of like how the sighted will park a car with the audio sensors. When the tone gets solid- you stop. That is simplistic. Imagine what a brain committed to processing audio could do with audio describing the shape of the area they are in. Instead of using the light spectrum. They are using the audial spectrum to “see”. Has any one created such tech yet?
Its game over once I get him with the ear plugs
What a cool young man!
