York is historically appealing. The Shambles is a nice place to have a walk down

I’ve stayed in a pub called The Golden Fleece, reputed to be the most haunted pub in the Shambles in York. I’m not a believer but woke up at 3:00 am, freezing cold room, daren’t close my eyes in case something was there when I opened them. I had the whole pub available to me as the landlady handed us the keys to the external door and bar door, too scared to go get a drink as no one else was staying in the place. Dawn could not come fast enough as we watched 3 hours of Jeremy Kyle till she came back in the morning to make us breakfast.
I’ve been in Shambles before! Never in York though.

You spelled “The Shades” wrong.
We went there just before Christmas a few years ago great place .I would recommend a couple of pints one evening followed by a ghost tour great laugh .
I want to go to there.
My favorite fact about York: Loads of the buildings in York were constructed from stone taken front the castle ruins… Anytime the locals needed some stone they would get it from the castle as if it were a quarry.
It’s the hint of a Greggs at the end that makes this shot perfect.

Not one but two (three if you count the double sized shop) Harry Potter shops.
I have walked down that exact street on a trip to GB. York is a fantastic city with a gorgeous cathedral. They were in the middle of restoring it at the time I was there.

I took my parents on a trip to UK and Ireland and went to York because of the train museum. I was pleasantly surprised at what a great little town that is. I cannot recommend it enough! Went on a private walking tour with a viking guide, it was amazing…

York is fantastic, one of my favorite places to visit. The Jorvik viking center, the minster, the Christmas market, the old buildings, I just love it.
