OMG. I used to work at Blockbuster. We had a kid on the game pass who decimated our Game Cube catalogue. If he hated the game he carved “sucked” into the back of the disk. We would charge them for the game and he would do it again. We would tell the mom but she never paid attention. About 6 months into this the dad noticed the bill, came in to yell at us and we explained everything. We even gave him all the games his kid damaged since he bought them.
He cancelled the pass, they never came back. Always wondered what happened to that little psychopath.
Some of my fondest childhood memories were staying over at my best friend’s house and his mom would take us to Blockbuster to rent a game for the night.
Good times man.
I don’t think I’ve played any of these games and yet I’m nostalgic for the boxart. good times.
$20 a month!?!
No wonder they went out of business
I don’t know if this was the same program, but when they first rolled out (iirc) “Two-week rentals” in 2002 or 2003, I used it to get my hands on Eternal Darkness on GameCube for part of my summer vacation, and it was incredible for me and my friends. We ended up playing it three times to get the true ending. What a game.
Mmm that Episode 3 game reminds me of the fun PVP duel mode.
In hindsight this ends up looking like a bad deal.
Area 51 was an awesome game at the time.
This was the shit, I remember going every Monday with my grandpa to grab a new game. It was a weird combo of I can have any game I want but I only had a week to play it, I mean I could have just asked to play the same game longer but then what’s the fun of it all
