What an absolutely spectacular sci-fi show. Highly recommend both the show and the books to anyone interested!

Still long-term hoping for a revival show/movie to wrap up the show-version events of the story from the final three books.

Wes did an amazing job playing an utterly broken character that’s holding it together just enough because of his friends. Amazing actor.

Amos is one of my favorite characters from any show. Progressively more complex and rewarding to watch as the story proceeds.

Some back story of the shooter for non book readers: >!Amos (Timmy) was pimped out as a child and eventually aged out and became muscle and a complete sociopath. He really, really hates people who hurt children, as this doctor had done. He’s also one of the best scifi characters ever and the book ending is so so good. Read ’em! !<

As I recall this depiction of this scene in the tv series is superior to the books. I remember it being quite flat in the novels. This sequence in the tv series is amazing.

This scene really shows the nature of Amos as a character.

He starts by showing empathy towards his ally and friend, and finishes showing absolutely none to the bad guy.

“There was a time I got caught in a reactor crawlspace when a coolant pipe blew. And that coolant is radioactive as fuck. Hits the open air and vaporizes just like that. *Snaps fingers*.

You get it on your skin, and it’s not good, but it washes off mostly. You’ll survive. You breath it in though? You get those radioactive particles down in your lungs where you can’t get ’em out, that pretty much melts you from the inside.

I had to get all the way to a maintenance air lock, open an emergency panel, strap a mask on my face, without breathing any of that shit in. Point is, I learned some things about myself.

I learned that I could hold my breath for almost two minutes while engaging in physical stressful activity. So… you have to ask yourself, how much damage do you think I could do to you in two minutes before the knockout gas gets to me?”

Man this show had so many awesome character moments. And one thing I’ve only realized in retrospect is how none of the main characters ever really compete for attention.

As someone who’s grown up with Star Trek and Stargate I was so accustomed to “team rivalries”. Not so here. Everyone gets their time in the sun (Amos being that guy, Holden’s comet chase, Naomi’s spacewalk and what follows, Alex’ rescue flying, Bobbie tackling a spaceship, random belters loading the somnambulist, Anna’s scene with Amos) and noone’s forced to sit in anyone else’s shadow.

Amos is still my favourite character from the book and TV series.

Don’t know what that says about me psychologically.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out Wes Chatham was also Captain Enoch in Ashoka. Everything about The Expanse was excellent… I was even gonna name my car the Roci lol

Amos was a great character and Wes Chatham did a fantastic job playing him. One of the most unique characters I’ve ever seen

I loved that show but really disliked how they pivoted away from the sci-fi during the last couple of seasons to focus on terrorism. We’ve got terrorism at home. I want to see some aliens and shit. And then they ended it without resolving, or even fully revealing, the enormous sci-fi threat that they’d been building to over the whole series. Very unfulfilling. Great show overall, though.

The friendship between Pax and Amos was so unexpected but welcomed. I think they were really there to help be *the other guy* their friends couldn’t be, and it made each of them better.
