It’s been called 11 other times this year. It’s not like this is a judgement call. He’s so offside you can’t see the ball.

  • Bar_Sinister

He was definitely lined up offsides, it’s clear as day, but I’m still confused why this wouldn’t be a dead ball foul, like a false start. Why let the play continue? The refs knew it was a dead play.

When I watched it live I was like “wtf is Kelce doing?” The end result was awesome. But that’s 100% a neutral zone infraction.

How is mahomes mad at the refs for this? They can’t “uncall” it once the play unfolds. It was a clear infraction – he wants them to ignore it after the fact somehow?

Honestly Kelce throwing the ball is an incredibly stupid play. Why would you take that risk with 1 minute left down by a field goal? Its dope it wouldve worked if not offsides but the risk is so much not worth the reward in this situation

Mahomes and Andy Reid are crying about their team needing to play by the rules! They got away with multiple BS no calls against Minnesota. What goes around comes around….

An amazing play. I think Patrick was upset by the inconsistency of the refereeing.Von Miller was offsides and nothing was called. Humans are allowed to be upset.

  • Ragnarotico

He’s upset at the wrong guy. Kadarius Toney is to blame. You’re a professional player and besides all the passes he’s dropped, he can’t even figure out where to stand before the snap.

    Absolutely pathetic.

Reid and Mahomes completely threw the officials under the bus in their post-game pressers. Reid said that the officials usually give a warning, and if that is true there is *some* merit to his complaint, but at the end of the day, its up to the players to make sure they are not lined up offsides. Mahomes just complained that the officials “took away greatness”. What?

This wasn’t a blown call, they had more chances to score, and this is only a regular season game. Why are they choosing to die on this hill that probably no one outside of KC’s fanbase agrees with?

I mean it was a beautiful play other than the blatant offsides. The one note I’d give the refs is they usually give a heads up when a player is in the neutral zone, which I prefer to pulling the flag after the fact.

Andy Reid saying that it should have only been a “warning” told to the coach after the play, is one big pile of BS.

“Hey, coach, your guy was offside, but no worries, here is a fix-it ticket, and please ask him to stay behind the ball. Thanks coach.”

  • drethnudrib

It’s an all-time great play by Kelce, except that the guy he threw it to apparently has the depth perception to recognize a backwards pass but not to recognize that he’s a full foot into the neutral zone.

  • samrazi

That was offsides, let’s just not debate that. Now I’m trying to understand why the refs didn’t call the play dead after the snap. Why allow the players to risk injury or the offense to show their hand after an offensive offsides.

  • DecksDarkAlien

I’m more disturbed that Reid acknowledged that he “usually gets a warning” before calling a penalty for this. Very telling.

I’ve seen numerous teams have this called on them and I’m sure they didn’t “get a warning.”

  • MattyIcex4

Outside of the way Mahomes has been reacting to this, I think the most frustrating part of this play is that Toney actually caught that perfectly lol.

  • socialistpancake

People acting like mahomes really blames the refs for this, he 1000% knows this is on Toney. But he’s a leader who doesn’t want to shit on his own team, so he’s projecting and screaming at the refs because that’s better than doing it at Toney.
