I like the video but I can’t help but notice that there was not a single mention of the genocide and slavery of the Native Alaskans people.

Edit: I assume many of you downvoters are actually ignorant of what it means for a Country to buy over 32,000 Indegenous people for 7.2 million US dollars. It was a decision at that time to minimize this large population.

Here we see proof that out of 33,426 people counted in Alaska during the 1880 Census only 430 were “white”.

We know these native populations were being used by Russians as slave labor and wives. We also know Russians were at war with various Alaskan tribes with Sitka being sacked once already by the time of the purchase.

This speech from Charles Sumner of Massachusetts in 1867 regarding the purchase of Alaska from Russia includes an expenditures list from Russia which lists the “cost of war” with locals on page 22.

The same speech covers the population of Alaska with extensive descrptions of the different people close to the shore. That starts on page 24 bringing up economic and war concerns.

Not mentioning this population consideration by both Counties is leaving a giant gap in the picture.
