Back in my days , reddit was the place to find these gems of content.
With wonderful insights from the comments.
These days, i miss those discussions.

I would argue that the troglodyte is the artist who doesn’t see the incredible value to their own craft that AI provides, freely and open source. I would share that AI is already in use in photoshop and google applications and even your phones camera and that the only people artist are currently fighting is the little guy, forgetting that disney and google and adobe aren’t scared of them and will continue to use AI, you’ll just have to pay them for it instead of download it from github for free.

i for one can’t wait until I can just tell a site my hentai tags and have it pop out a fresh new doujin for me

I see a lot of people fixating on the potential disruptive economic consequences AI art will have for artists as the basis for the controversy surrounding the topic. But what gets people riled up even more than the prospect of financial losses is the fear of losing social status. The idea that everything that you think makes you special to, and appreciated by, society can be thoughtlessly replicated by a machine.

People find it unbearable when something new upends the social hierarchy within a community and lets outsiders claim the same credit, compliments and appreciation they used to receive.

I’ve seen loads of comics and videos deriding people who call themselves ‘AI artists’ but I’ve never seen a single person describing themselves as that, except sarcastically.

Who are these ‘AI artists’? And why does reddit seem to care so much about them?

By “Near future” he means 2023, right? Because this is how it feels right now. It’s great!

But, really…. AI has reached a point where aesthetics and technique are no longer hurdles. You can literally prompt gibberish and get back a highly aesthetic image that is completely boring and irrelevant.

So, the challenge is still to dig deep and find something interesting and relevant. The hurdles are removed. The gates are wide open. You can do anything. So… what will you actually do?

I understand how it is easy to get fed up with the absolute flood of beautiful, boring, empty images resulting from the removal of traditional barriers. What’s easy to miss is that the total volume of interesting, personal, relevant work has also increased. A lot. It’s just buried under the boring flood.

I mean, I never had a creative bone in my body and now with AI I can make and create things I would have paid thousands for to be luckwarm about. Others I make things for are happy to see their imaginations come to life.

I know its not for everyone, but I think its an amazing tool for creativity and innovation.

One day I MIGHT be able to attain the level of the artist in this video. He confidently says “idea”…and I’m over here like…wow…I wish it was that easy.

And then to simply state “masterpiece” instead of actually putting effort into something. Honestly, it is this type of efficiency that capitalism and evolution has bred into me.

I want it all for nothing.

Give me everything, I give you nothing.

I laid in bed all morning today. I didn’t feel like getting out of bed…too comfy. I can order all my meals. Maids clean my house.

I shower every few days now.

This is where it has all been heading.

For 100000 years…humans have wanted exactly this.

    And here it is.

I have nothing but absolute thanks for everything in my life.

Thank you so much, everything ever in all of time.

    I’ve arrived.

You can create really beautiful pieces with AI. You can play around with different IPs, design something you always imagined but lacked the talent to bring forth into reality, the possibilities are insanely cool.

And yet I find very few places online where AI art is allowed, and it usually is treated with derision

  • RaNerve

AI debate is driven entirely by a valid emotional response but virtually no thought. When I show you an amazing picture and the tell you a computer made it some primal part of the human brain goes ‘eww.’ And that’s the reason the debate exists: That’s it. There will be no financial desolation to artists, no more than photoshop was to painters. Photoshop didn’t ruin painting and photography it became an invaluable tool. AI will do the same thing.

I use AI to generate pictures of my DND characters because I can’t afford to pay $800 on a good commission for each… but I still pay $800 for the characters that really matter to me. Commissions aren’t something you buy like a can of coke – they’re a huge investment both in time and resources. People will seek out artists for things that matter, as they always do, and use AI to generate things that are ‘good enough’ when normally they just wouldn’t have any art at all or would find something similar on deviant art or whatever.

The machine is the advancement of humanity. We are the cocoon that will breed the future. All you can do is submit to the inevitable

  • Factory_Supervisor

I don’t care if it took you ten years to develop competency in oil paining, or if you’re just some kid throwing words at a discord bot. The only thing that matters is the final artefact. If it sparks an emotional reaction, you’ve done well.

  • obscureposter

I don’t have an issue with AI art itself. It’s cool and interesting to see what it can come up with. But the concept of being an AI artist is basically me ordering food from Uber eats and calling myself a chef.

  • TheDadThatGrills

So as long as no one claims AI art as work they created we’re 100% cool with it, correct? This technology tool would allow people to experience and find joy in billions of artistic possibilities instantaneously. Provided this isn’t being sold and monetized under the impression the art was human-created I see no problem.

I’ve never met someone who attributed AI art to their own ability but I see a ton of artists insecure by this advancement in technology.

lmaooo It’s beyond hilarious how threatened and triggered “””real””” artists are by AI. Keep it coming, the salt mines are so vast!
