I’m not gonna act like I’ve seen every version of TMNT that’s existed, but this feels like the “youngest” they’ve ever been(at least in how they’re portrayed in the trailer)

They feel 13-14, rather than 16-17, if that makes sense. May just be the pitch of the voices.

I’m excited regardless, feels strangely refreshing.

NGL, this looks fun as shit. As a 40 year old TMNT fan who grew up on the OG cartoons, this feels like a nice spiritual successor.

Holy crap that looks really freaking good.

And the bit with Donnie getting impaled in the leg by the sai made me think of Ricky Bobby lol

The piano rendition of the 80’s cartoon theme song.

The LAIRD neon sign up on the roof top.

The quick banter between the boys, the stabbing, the art style that looks ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Spiderverse and Mitchell’s vs The Machines.

Can tell a lot of love and deep appreciation went into this one. Cowabunga.

Loving the fact that different animation studios are using the “Spider-Verse” art style in their movies. Puss in Boots looked gorgeous, and this looks pretty nice as well.

Man, this looks so incredibly wholesome. Love that they’re leaning into the younger teen aspect. Literally reminds me of me and brothers at that age!

  • Barthez_Battalion

Love seeing them as actual young teenagers who are still growing and learning. I love most TMNT stuff but the usual way has been making them “17-ish” and then they are all basically adults with their already fleshed out unique personalities.

Gonna be fun seeing them all as younger turtles.

I hope this and the Spider-Verse sequel push WB to keep going on their animated Batman Beyond movie, I would absolutely kill to see Neo-Gotham and the Beyond suit in an insane art style like these movies.

This looks good though! Definitely interesting hearing the turtles sound so young. Love the shot of Bebop and Rocksteady just vibing lmao

Honestly, this looks great! I’d love to watch it. I am personally a fan of them having *actual* teenage voices. It didn’t bother me one bit, I like this direction!

many say that they took a page from spiderverse, and i agree, but this ruff style reminds me so mutch of “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya” too

The best part about the animation style Spider-Verse brought is not just that it is gorgeous in how it fluidly mixes the 3D animation with 2D handrawn style, but that it is financially more sustainable than the extremely realistic 3d animation we have seen for the past few decades. You can take a risk like Spider-Verse, TMNT, and Puss in Boots 2 animation-wise because they cost least 50% less than a feature Pixar and Disney Animation film. Even a lower stakes Disney Film like Encanto (which I adore and is gorgeously animated) cost at minimum $125 million in budget while all the films mentioned above capped out at around $90 mil. Its crazy that in the style the films stand out artistically, have fantastic action and most importantly won’t age nearly as much visually in the years to come. Obviously they still need good writing and direction like they did, but its so much more expressionistic than the standard 3D animation we have gotten used to.

Seems like they’re teenagers who just happen to be turtles, and wanna be ninjas; instead of being ninjas who just happen to be teenage turtles.

I’m actually excited about a TMNT movie.

That’s not something I expected to ever say again.

  • noobvin

I love how the animation style looks like Claymation at times. I guess it’s the shadowing. I wonder if they use filters are all of it is done by hand. Really neat styling.

me when I see choppy framerate in video games: **angry as fuk**

me when I see choppy framerate in animated movie trailers: **happy noise**

  • Corby_Tender23

Will we ever acknowledge that the 1990 live action movie is and always will be the best TMNT movie? This looks better than I expected though. I love that animation style.

  • dagreenman18

So the art is Spiderverse with an almost claymation sheen meets Eastman And Laird’s sketchy style with almost hypercolor pallet?

That’s a really refreshing take on this. Distinct enough to stand out without losing the appeal of TMNT. The boys seem pretty damn young this time around going by the voices. Donny sounds super young. Master Splinter even looks slightly younger.

I’m pretty excited for this. We’ve had a good run of TMNT stuff between the last couple shows and this
