Ben Russell and Cameron James what a treat
Puppet History has a great episode on this.
Spoiler Alert: The Emus win
The famous 1932 war against Emus – with a poster containing dudes holding the 1959 designed M16, the 1958 RPG-7 and even a 1960’s GPMG brandished by an Emu… Is this an EPIC that travels existentialism, time, space and drop bears?
Looks like the dude in the back is holding up his emu arms
Birds of a feather… Kill together. Definitely checking this out.
Finally our history shall be shown
btw this is made with actual footage from the war. We had Weta Workshop work with the government to restore it over the last ten years.
The voices have obviously been dubbed though.
Don’t do it, Emmanuel!!
Haha the emu with the helmet absolutely kills me.
What actually happened:
Aussie government have some guys a truck a Lewis gun (Early machine gun) and told them to kill all the emus in the area.
However, no one really though about how fast emus can run, and the fact literally anything will run away if you start shooti g a machine gun.
After a few days of failure, they had to abandon the operation due to the emus usage of “Guerrilla tactics”.
They did then just tell farmers they’d pay for any emus handed over, which actually worked.
Oofty goofty!
Shoutout to a fantastic podcast “The Dollop” that did an episode on the Emu War. They are comedians who do an American history comedy podcast.

To think I almost scrolled past this without noticing the emu brandishing an FN MAG at the bottom. 💀
Too soon!
Take my m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ dollary doos
I thought the top actor had his face coming off like Yul Brynner in 1973 Westworld
Aussie comedies can either be top notch or incredibly unfunny. Hopefully this is the former.
Fat Messi with a mullet lower left.
It occurred in 1932. Why do the emu’s have m16/m60 weapons?
Shout out to Gocsy the mad cunt!
/r/Emuwarflashbacks never forgets.
It wasn’t a war. It was a slaughter.
I am definitely going to see this
Lmao, better poster than what Avatar just released.
Hmm I’m a bit conflicted about making a comedy about such a traumatic historical event for my country.
Ben mother fucking Russell, holy shit
