Man I miss that dude. He really was one of the good guys.

Thought he was a bit of a joker at first until I saw some clips of him way back early in the day, before the fame, before the khaki uniform.

Him, at night, way up in a muddy estuary, on his own(apart from the unseen cameraman) wrestling a 7 foot croc into a ten foot dinghy. Dirty, wet, muddy, dark….a real ‘man vs wild’ battle.

This guy was one of the wild ones.

    Good on you Steve.

I went to Australia Zoo in 2019 and met Bindi. She’s so pure and kind. The best experience of my life. I still remember the day he died…perhaps my earliest memory at 7 years old.

One of my favorite videos, Steve was just a kind soul, animals can sense that, mom orangutan wanted to be close and present him her baby, such a beautiful experience

This was such a powerful moment. I’ve got tears rolling down my cheek.

It’s quite bittersweet. We have these beautiful creatures connected to us by Mother Nature. Creatures who we should be protecting. Instead, we are destroying their homes, killing them for sport and betraying them.

It just rips my heart to pieces.

Ooof! This hits me right there, yknow. I grew up watching all of that stuff on weekend mornings and seeing him. Reminds me of the days when I was a little kid, watching the animals interact with Jack Hannah or Steve Irwin.

    Love this!
One of the highlights of my 10mos spent touring Australia in the late 90s was spending time at the Australia Zoo where Steve himself was actually there, teaching us about the zoo’s crocs, feeding them etc. He even brought baby Bindi in the pen with him!
I always thought he was a bit exaggerated – until that day. His passion, his excitement, his joy was real.
Was devastated when I heard the news of his death.

When he died, my little kid heart broke and it remains that way every time i see clips of him. He was my favorite on Animal Planet, always wanted to watch him and Top 10 Most Extreme. There’s just no one else like him.

I noticed he mimicks her actions, and then sort of jokishly comments to the camera: “itchy nose” then scratches his nose, same thing with his head after her, etc.. I think that is helping making the mother at ease..

I was in Rainbow Beach surfing one day and behind me come paddling Steve Erwin on a long board he was wearing kahki shorts believe it or not and he was just as full of energy and charisma in real life as you see on TV, we took turns catching small waves in the sun, laughing and hooting. Had a few brief chats in what was a memorable day for me.

About a week later I was at school assembly and we had a suprise guest, I was about three rows back from the front and our comes Steve, just the same energetic legend, it’s certainly not a gimmick, that’s how he is, I was always dubious it was an act but what a champion of a guy he was, anyway, after a couple minutes he made eye contact with me and pointed and said hey! It’s me mate! Hey brother! It’s me little surfing mate! Haha, I’ll never forget it 20 something years later is a great memory.

RIP to one of the greats. Spread Love and kindness xo
