Someone completely recreated Kmart in VRChat with working scanners, P.A. systems, and more – and it has a chat server with 3,000 people that occasionally roleplay working here.

My uncle worked with Kmart traveling the country to help their stores. I wonder what he would think of this

Neat i can now virtually shop at kmart as there are no physical stores standing in my area. Props for the creator for recreating a familiar yet something we miss.

Lol might as well go work there and actually get paid for it. Who the hell roles play working a job like that

  • dirtyblueshirt

Does it include dirty floors and aisles of shelves stocked with a single product one item deep to make the store look full?

  • ChippyTick

Unironically I would totally try this because I miss meandering through KMarts while my mom just browsed clothes

First place that I encountered layaways and to this day I still don’t get how it was supposed to work

Attention Kmart customers we have a blue light special on Clorox bleach in aisle 17.

And getting one of those red icee drinks at the in store restaurant, good times.

Too clean to be a K Mart. The lighting should be yellow and dim. Tiles, similarly yellowed from poor maintenance.

Why would someone do this with their time? Probably someone who has never actually had to do this God forsaken job.

Wow, I didn’t think a Kmart was around anymore. I though they all drowned in a sacrifice to keep the Sears side afloat a bit longer. I had to look up to see they still have locations.

I wonder if this recreation has the giant circular air diverters in the ceiling that all of the old stores in my area had. Those are what I vividly remember from Kmart’s heyday.

Alright, I may have to push through my social anxiety and put on the very headset so I can shop at Kmart one more time.

    I know I’m a recluse now.

Here’s my thought: this is great for people who feel they lack social interaction. Order some groceries on whatever delivery app, then hop on and “shop” in VRChat.

Yes, KMart is now meme status, but I gotta be honest — they ran some cool gaming promos when 360 and PS3 were at their peak. Hell, $20 and $30 coupons would print out directly from the register if you bought certain titles.

The lead KMart electronics dept promo guy was active on the community forum at CheapAssGamer. If anyone had a problem, he’d make it right. I contacted him once and he got back with me in like 30 minutes. Thought that was damn cool.

It’s not an authentic experience though if it doesn’t have a Little Caesars in it or at least 20 check out registers but only 2 are open.

Dang just hearing about Kmart brings back memories. We would move around a lot and it seems whoever we went there was a Kmart nearby. We use to go there because they had a pizza place inside. Little Cesar’s I think. When we’d move in we wouldn’t have chairs or mattresses so we’d go there for bean bag chairs and inflatable mattresses to use until we got enough money to get some actual stuff hahah. I remember eating cereal out of styrofoam bowls and not have tv so we’d play with flashlights and make shadow puppets.
