Definitely not hippie, looks more like a model with an expensive handbag making a shooting for some fashion brand. A hippy wud not have such a perfect VW bus and dressed like if she is heading to a party. Still, the picture is cool.

Model? Nah, even in the 60’s this area is crazy expensive to live in. Rich people pretending to be poor has always been a thing. Driving around now is not so different. Even the rich are kinda poor with cost of living added on. SF poor still make over 100K a year. I know stage hands that barely survive on that

Around that time there was a bumper sticker slogan: “if this van’s rocking’, don’t bother knocking’”

    Make love, not war!

This looks like a future timeline camo scheme… intended to defeat drone-based AI visual recognition systems.

On the bus, not her dress.

Eh, Haight Ashbury was a hippie mecca but everyone in the comments is assuming hippies were poor. They weren’t necessarily, especially in a time where wages and cost of living were very fair.

Damn near every modern Hippy is generally from a very wealthy background, coincidence? I think not. We all assume Busses were cheap but in reality (especially bay windows) they weren’t. With this being a split in ’67 during their original production run is telling
