Still holds up as one of the best miniseries ever.
A remake of this miniseries is currently in production. I am extremely excited. This was one of my favorite miniseries ever.
Anjinsan!
Chamberlain is a funny guy: when he first played ‘Doctor Kildare’ on TV, he was generally considered a bad actor. Then, he went to England to study acting, and before you know it, he starred in Hamlet to great reviews. Interesting man. Kudos to him. I love his Count of Monte Cristo.
Jimmy Fallon
One of my all time favourite books.
I remember reading the entire book over a weekend just so I could be done before the miniseries started. This, and Roots we among the earliest of them.
Reading it again, right now. He’s just decided that he can’t accept the shame of a whole village being destroyed if he doesn’t learn Japanese in 6 months, so he’s decided to commit Seppuku. I read it every 2 or 3 years. It’s one of my top 3 favorite novels.
