I loved sending city busses to the moon after popping them in the gas tank.
Man I loved this game. You could get the pimped out ride and bullet time.. I would love a newer version of this.
NY was great too.
And their cover art copied Commandos successfully.
Dang I had forgotten about this one. Thanks for the reminder. It was definitely a fun game.
True crime NY was great and it seems like almost nobody played it.
Wish we could get a new True Crime. True Crime: Streets of Chicago
Scarface the world is yours is probably the best of them all.
This was my first GTA like experience on Gamecube and I was so happy because I didn’t have a ps2 at the time and I couldn’t experience GTA but this was super close and in some cases even better.
Playing as Snoop
I got like 70% through and my save file corrupted – didn’t have the heart to go back through at the time, haven’t did it yet
I remember driving the streets of LA and was impressed by how big the map was. Very realistic recreation of LA from downtown to Santa Monica.
This game came nowhere close to GTA. At all. I played True Crime a lot because I didn’t have anything else at the time. People’s nostalgia for this game is so warped. GTA Vice City had been out for a year by the time this game released.
Streets of La what? His head is blocking the rest of the title.
Game had a great soundtrack.
I remember a glitch in this game. If you drove your car on the freeway at a certain part youâd fall through the map and then get launched out of it at insanely high speeds and fly across the map.
Good times.
OHHH MY GOOOoooOOooOOOD!
The gameplay was so good but the story takes a weird turn when you start fighting ancient Chinese demons or whatever.
Man I think I owned this on GameCube
Have been trying to remember the name of this game forever, thank you!
It was the GameCube’s alternative to GTA, but was a little uninspired and generic to really be considered a classic.
The game tried really too hard to fire on all cilinders: fighting (dreadful), stealth, shooting (better than GTA?), driving, morality system (slightly annoying with big impact), … and they should just have focused on making the world a bit more varied in style
Obviously you never played 50 cent bulletproof /s
I feel like a lot of games have successfully done a better job with the gta formula
All I remember from this game is being awfully janky copy of GTA.
Yo! I remember this game! I stayed up for hours just to beat it, was so fun
Thanks for PTSD, i was QA lead for the Xbox version.
All I remember is there were dragons, zombie and Luke a demon monk wizard dude in the sewers of L.A.
Yeah well gta 3 didn’t even get it’s own formula right, so….
Didnât Sleeping Dogs start as True Crime: Hong Kong before Squeenix bought it off Activision? That was always my favorite GTA-like that wasnât a GTA, with Saints Row 2 and Watch Dogs 2 close behind.
