One of Homer Simpson and Zoidberg’s common antics were to spin around on the floor or run around the room yelling “woop woop woop”, this was taken from The Three Stooges

I always loved the Curly Woo-Woo (and come on, who among us hasn’t tried to imitate it at one point or another), but it’s a little creepy hearing a bunch of them strung back-to-back like that, haha.

The fact that are people out there that do not realize this and have never heard of the stooges makes me feel old.
Also, I foresee Carrey, Farrel, and….Bautista maybe? As a remake of the Stooges. Because the last one did so well.
I strongly suspect that many of Curly’s bits were taken from living with a toddler. He is a big kid, which is charming to some, and really annoying to others. Running on the floor, running without getting anywhere, covering his face to not see things, barking at people, etc, are out of the kids playbook. I wonder if this is documented somewhere, I have watched all of Curly’s episodes but not read any books about The Three Stooges.
Conan O’Brien, former Simpsons writer, is a huge Three Stooges fan. It’s where he picked up [wanee wanaa](https://youtu.be/C2Xkw5BCYD8)
This fact people didn’t know this tells me how old I am.
This was also the basis for Rick’s ‘wubba lubba dub dub’ on Rick and Morty’ it was originally an outtake of Woop Woop Woop that the crew heard and loved so they wrote it into the show.
i’d wager to say a lot of “adult” cartoons have their roots in los tres chiflados
I remember Homer doing it once
Ah yes, the common antic that Homer did once in 30 years.
how was this ever considered funny.
No way, the Simpsons didn’t do it first?
Homer did it once, and Zoidberg maybe twice.
Pretty sure most people already knew that.
I remember watching the Three Stooges with my dad. He grew up laughing at this show. And I gotta say, the slapstick humor is still funny. It’s not surprising at all that it would inspire shows like the Simpsons. Even for its time, the humor was pretty refined. 😊
This is the best clip, I really love it.
Way ahead of its time highlighting the trials and tribulations of living with mental illness /s?
Moe is their leader
Pretty sure in Futurama the writers addressed why Zoidberg does the Three Stooges antics in either the Hollywood Harold Zoid episode or his homeworld/mating episode.
You mean to tell me that the Simpsons did not do it first?
That video had a lot of woop woops
Well, duh.
I was surprised to see it didn’t show all the times Curly lay on his side on the floor and spun on one hip “running” in a circle while whooping. They were a big part of my childhood and I wonder how many kids were poked in the eyes while trying to duplicate Moe’s two finger poke move.
Just like Charlie Chaplin this is timeless comedy
