‘Cause I’m just a teenage kraken, baby 🎶
-Wheatus, probably
Movie fans- “Enough with the sequels and remakes! Give us something new!
Movie studios – Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023)
Movie fans- “Not like that!”
Is there an evolutionary advantage for mermaids to have red hair?
This looks veeeery familiar…
Hot take; this doesn’t look too bad, I like the style and overall concept.
The issues are the trailer gives away too much, it’s clearly being dumped with little marketing (Indicating no fate) and although I think it looks ok, this still has the vibe of either a Netflix/VOD animated film or one of those “tame” Dreamworks movies (think smth like Spirit Untamed or Abominable).
Scrolling by, I read that as Ruby Giuliani.
Interesting timing
Looks like DreamWorks is back to their old Bugs Life/Antz pipeline. Ariel who?
I thought that was Ariel
If you removed the Dreamworks references you could 100% convince me this was a Little Mermaid mockbuster. I’m still not entirely sure that it isn’t.
lol I thought this was a joke
That’s not the main character. watch the trailer
Didn’t look like my vibe but I do appreciate them trying something fresh & new. Def will keep an open mind and give it a watch
I saw the trailer for this on the weekend.
I am not the demographic for this at all, let that be known.
However outside of that, this genuinely looks fucking awful.
Ngl I love when they take jabs at Disney
Knowing DreamWorks, they probably made like 10 posters with a character and some sort of phrase.
I just went and saw Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse last night and I must say I feel bad for any animated movie coming out at least the rest of the summer cause I don’t think anyone of them can live up to that film.
I read this as “Teenage Karen”
Oh man I was really hoping this would be a live action movie about a teenager in high school slowly turning into a werekraken and trying to hide it. But then everyone finds out and he becomes a swimming star or something.
Looking at the list of DreamWorks movies feels like getting whiplash, the quality is more over the place than almost any other animation studio. If only they could always have quality like The Last Wish, but I guess you need the misses or people start to expect too much.
the Dreamworks smirk lives on (though with the bad guy this time, so more appropriate)
Ruby Gillman sounds just like another Name for Roboute Guilliman and for some reason i can’t stop laughing.
I work at a dine-in movie theater, and during opening weekend of Mario some 6 year old boy yelled, “I dunno, *maybe*” at the end of this trailer. 100’s of viewings of that later and I still think of that kid every single time.
Her name is Ariel
I have a dream about her
She rings my bell
I got gym class in half an hour
Oh, how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks
But she doesn’t know who I am
And she doesn’t give a damn about me
‘Cause I’m just a Teenage Kraken, baby…
Read that as Teenage Karen for a second.
Wow, DreamWorks just is not letting this beef die, aren’t they?
I read it too fast and my brain saw “Rudy Giuliani – Teenage Karen”. I was honestly confused as to what does it all mean. Took me few seconds
So glad I saw this post. I heard the commercial but wasn’t watching it. I couldn’t understand how anyone was able to make a movie where someone exclaims they’re a “teenage crack head”. Kraken makes a bit more sense.
The “dreamworks face” is alive and well
White conservative moms see this and say ‘finally, the little mermaid is white again’ and buy it. Simple trick marketing taking advantage of idiot bigots.
That header doesn’t really make sense though if Not Ariel is the antagonist of the movie. She already LOOKS like she would cause problems.
Why does this poster look ai generated
I appreciate they trying something new with this one, but god damn if this don’t look like the most mid movie of 2023.
A white mermaid?!?! Well now I’ve seen it all.
Either there’s gonna be a bait and switch, and she won’t turnout to be the villain, or this movie has some off the absolute worst marketing I’ve seen. I swear the trailer reveals the entire climax of the movie.
I mean, I love the How to Train Your Dragon series but the trailer for this just seemed very generic. Will wait and see.
That looks so bad.
Got that corporate cartoon look going on. Like those GrubHub commercials.
If I see one more animated character with that look on their face I’m going to burn my house down
I saw the trailer for this in front of SHAZAM! 2, and while I appreciate that I am in no way the target audience for this film, it still looked really bad. There are better looking films for kids out there.
**WOULD**
“We resemble but are legally distinct from the Lollipop Guild…”
Without knowing anything about the film Teenage Kraken sounds like a bad movie title.
Is this the Mermaid for Right Wingers?
God, that soulless corporate animation “sass” expression. It’s painful at this point.
Shrek 5: the way of water?
This is by dreamworks? I thought it something from the Asylum
