My grandparents were raised in the same county in the same era. Cool picture, small world.
About to drop the sickest album of the decade
Small world indeed!
The kid that’s holding up the kitten makes this.
Not a lot of hope in the eyes of those 2 lads!
You’re family is beautiful. I bet your grandpa and his siblings had some great stories about living through the depression. I would have loved to listen!
Growing up in the great depression only to go fight in WW2. That generation truly had it rough.
Cool! Used to live in Wright County.
The two boys in front both look like they’re realizing “I am never going to recover fully from this childhood”
Kid on the right looks like he’s seen some shit.
I want to read this Steinbeck novel.
I always say that The Grapes of Wrath should be required reading. A testament to human resilience.
Now it would be “wah, my wifi’s not working!”
Talk about an attractive lot, though. Even the kitten is handsome.
Your great uncle (I am guessing to the right) has this truly intense look and has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Now living outside Cokato/Annandale. This was not far from where I reside currently. Cool
Boy on the right seems like he seen some shit
They look like movie stars on set. If this family had money, they’d have been booking print commercials.
Reminds me of *Let Us Now Praise Famous Men*.
I lived in St. Michael
Grapes of Wrath vibe
Why is the oldest girl so clean and fancy?
Beautiful family.
They look greatly…. Uhhh… you know… depressed
Have a similar pic of my dad somewhere, I should post. He and his 6 siblings standing by a car in 1940. My dad is 5, wearing bib overalls, barefoot with a rag tied to his big toe.
I see who the favorite kid was.
the fact a couple of them have smiles and a couple of them look like they’re 40 is really crazy
Those two up front look like they’ve seen a lifetime of hardships most of us combined would never experience.
Different generation. Different world… about a hundred years ago
Wow, i grew up in Wright county. First time seeing a pic from back then
Like to know how there lives turned out?
The kid on the right looks 50.
Is it just me or does the boy on the right look like Russell Crowe?
Top right got something to say
That boy on the right is the manliest looking kid ever. He’s all looking wistfully into the distance and shit.
Such a gritty image of a hardscrabble time. There is hope and resignation on their faces.
Bet they all went on to be a credit to their country
What a lot of people may not realize is that for a lot of rural people whose life was a struggle in the best of times the depression was really no different.

Seven kids! 😫 Sister on right looks like Elizabeth Taylor from national velvet.
Girl on the top, right seems like she’s having an easier go of it than the others.
Absolutely beautiful family
