Most likely they are a type of midge fly. They swarm like crazy in the spring when they are mating and then die off. One characteristic that gives a midge away vs, a mosquito is they usually have 2 “puffy” looking antennas.
I only say this, because it’s easy to flip out when it looks like clouds of blood-sucking mosquitoes are outside.
