She did not have 309 confirmed kills, she claimed 309 kills, modern historians don’t believe she achieved this number.

I’ve posted this before but her kills may not have been confirmed and may be soviet propaganda.Nazis refused to allow women to fight under any circumstances, even as Berlin was burning due to adherence to traditional roles. The claim (perhaps embellished) of soviet super women massacring their men had a perhaps profound phycological effect on axis morale. This has a lingering effect to this day as many claim women make better snipers than men (this is unproven without use of anecdotes though they might be just as good as men however, using the Olympics as a yardstick).I know this counterexample is an unpopular train of thought in light of third wave feminism , but I will throw it out as food for thought.

the only reason i know about this awesome woman is because they named some sniper rifles after her in Borderlands 2! In case you are wondering where to get these legendary snipers, Gettle drops it in ‟the Dust” area by the church.you‘d have to pick up the side mission by Mordy

An interesting movie about her came out in 2015. It mainly focused on her relationship with Eleanor Roosevelt, and how that helped her deal with her PTSD. Worth a watch.
