Phenomenal show.
At the 2:56 mark didn’t age well.
It sucks Louis CK got canceled. He’s the best comedian around.
So glad he’s back. We don’t need him at superstar status, just need him at active and really beloved status. He’s so fuckin hilarious.
Good scene, but there’s no evidence of that derivation for the pejorative. The term has been around since the middle ages and had a wide variety of uses (bundle of sticks, a slatternly woman, a mischievous child, a man hired to pose as soldier to make up the required muster of troops), but it likely wasn’t until the early part of the 20th century that it became a reference to homosexual men exclusively.

top ten series ever
Important to keep in mind this was 12 years ago and we were just starting to really become aware of how we talked about LGBTQ people. This is a pretty accurate representation of how a more “woke” conversation would go at that time.
There was a good line in there are someone using a word and meaning it. That’s the part that has made me upset about Chapelle. It’s not that he told trans jokes, it’s that he *means* it. I’m a firm believer that comedians can joke about anything, but if a comedian is telling Jewish jokes, but is a real anti-semitic, that’s not cool. So if a comic tells trans jokes and is transphobic it is no longer funny.
I know I’m opening a can of shit by mentioning Chapelle, but I think he’s a better comedian than that. That if anyone, he should know better. It hurts me to see that side because I love him as a comic.
Miss hearing this guys great interviews when he used to be allowed to promote his work on the television networks… but even though cancel culture is fake news we haven’t seen that since the pushback from when he asked for consent to perform and act, received consent in the form of the word yes, but then apparently yes can identify as no in this era of humanity. Should he have done it in the first place, probably not, (though I wasn’t there and context matters) should he be the equivalent of hitler to far to many living in this group think mentality? Fuck no, and where the fuck is this important thing we used to preach called forgiveness? Who in the spotlight have we granted this to? Maybe, possibly, perhaps, our demonization and ability to let one moment define everything is the problem… but no, there is just no way EVER that it is me who could be wrong about something.
I love the fact that only one guy has a problem with the conversation topic and the other guys basically said “Fuck you, I’m curious” and listened to what he had to say with an open mind.
Literally any other conversation this guy could probably handle. He certainly had no objection to Louie vividly describing a bunch of dirty dicks being shoved up this other guy’s mom’s ass.
But guys jerking each other off? *fingers in the ears* LALALALALA…

Holy cow, I used to know that guy (Rick Crom) holding the cards. Didn’t realize he had a TV career. Good for him.
What I find really impressive and curious about this scene is how organic / authentic it feels. The acting from all parties feels so relaxed that it seems ad-libbed, but lines / tempo / timing & camera movement are clearly very carefully scripted. It’s amazing writing, but also some really fantastic acting from everyone at the table.
Everyone saying he is a bad comic because of the stupid shit he did… youre wrong. Do people have any clue how many beloved actors, musicians, comics, public figures… w.e have done truly atrocious shit behind the scenes? Its only recently, decade or so, that it is all coming out. Its doesnt change the fact that he is one of the best comedians of the past 20 years.
This is what real friendship looks like.
It’s sad that there are people who need it spelled out for them how awful he is. Good people don’t abuse their power in such an unthinkable way. Like the guy that grabbed Terry Crews, he just didn’t believe he’d be held accountable for it. Dude even had them blackballed for having the audacity to complain.
Dude Louie was such a good show. I was a raised super conservative and religious and I can distinctly remember this scene being a “holy shit” moment for me
Louie always hinted at who he was…not making excuses, nor condoning his actions…though some of his episodes were some of the most insightful tv I ever watched…absolutely loved his three episode arc about his shot at Dave Letterman’s job…
“I don’t know. I don’t talk to her every day”
Thats it, im buying all the seasons right now!
Was it well known that jim Norton exclusively liked trans girls at this time ?
“I don’t like it when *you* say it”
I think there was a lot of insight to that comment
Todd Glass talked about his feelings on jokes about homosexuals when he came out on WTF podcast. He said something along the lines of you can joke about what you want but when you know how upsetting it can be for some people to hear you should ask yourself if the joke is really worth it. I used to make gay jokes with my friends a lot and I thought it was okay because I didn’t actually have anything against homosexuality or any sexual preference but I know now that that doesn’t make it okay
