Just a few years ago, bald eagles were very scarce where I live. Now I see them almost every day.

In my town we have a nature walk called ‘Eagle Watch’. It’s a nesting area on a lake view. Very pretty! It’s awesome to watch them fish

    Check your local garbage dump.

Here in Vancouver you will find hundreds of them circling the dump in Delta catching all the rodents that live off the garbage.

Southwestern Ontario checking in – same! We never had them when I was growing up and now I see them frequently. They’re amazing!

Yep, bald eagle populations in the lower US have expanded. That is because in 1973 the US Congress passed the Endangered Species Act and eliminated a common chemical (DDT). In 1977 Congress passed the Clean Water Act and our lakes and rivers have improved. Google the fire in Cuyahoga River. And the Clean Air Act of 1970 made some of the massive smog problems a thing of the past.

The US Congress could easily get off its ass and pass similar legislation to reduce global warming harm so vote accordingly if you are in the US if you want to continue to see awesome pics of these giant birds.

Oh, and ditto lead shot which is poisoning eagles and hawks and other animals that eat lead from animal carcasses.
