Seriously, if it’s time to pee then I’m walking away pause or no pause
The first game that came to mind was dark souls. The urge to pee in a boss battle in that game and not being able to pause is aweful.
Sometimes nature calls even if you can’t pause. Let it flow.
You have to press ctrl+F21+mousebutton 4 and then move the mouse from left to right while additionally pressing enter.
As simple as that
I’ve found F10 to be the most reliable.
Seriously. Whenever I get any game time there is still a very high chance that I will be interrupted and have to stop for a few minutes with no notice. No ability to pause in Single Player has literally stopped me from buying games before.
Terraria but autopause is off
Single player games that require an internet connection for some fucking reason.

Well, terraria is just superior in this aspect.
You can even choose if you want your game to pause in the inventory screen or not.
Once I installed a cracked Final Fantasy XIII (PC) and it would quit the game without prompt if you press Esc.

Always gives me a heart attack when it’s bound to either P or Enter.
i also don’t love when mum tell me that it’s time to eat and says to pause an online game…
I’ve never ever played a single player game that doesn’t pause
Also single player games that don’t let you manually save. Especially games with different endings. I don’t want to play for 300 hours again just to get the perfect ending.
You know a infamous game who has this problem? Witcher 3. It’s unreasonable why the fuck a narrative driven game who doesn’t allow you to pause when characters are talking. It’s not even a cutscene, just a simple dialogue exchange and you can’t pause it lol and the second insulting aspect is how this can be easily implemented with a minuscule mod. These kind of obvious oversights really pisses me off, games that needs mods to be fully enjoyable, etc.. Witcher 3 had so many patches, but even to this day no sign of this QOL being implemented
One thing that has become excellent with console games is that backing out into the console menu is a hard pause button for any moment of the game.
I’m sure there’s some way to do that on PC, but having it baked in with consoles is just nice.
I don’t want to sound like a basic redditor but: based. When games doesn’t pause and it still runs I immediately sell it. So long Dragon Quest XI, you won’t be missed. Added bonus if you vlcan pause/skip cutscenes.
There’s really no reason not to
It’s just a design choice. You don’t like it, you have the option of not playing it ..
Shoutout to forza horizon where if you pause (even online) your car stops right where you are. And you dont have to worry about crashing.
No pause in cutscenes is so stupid, most recent example is Greedfall.
Gee, I’ve started a brand new game and I want to learn how to play. Oh, I don’t like how the controls are bound. Well while I’m fiddling with bindings, the game has restarted and is having me die in the tutorial fight again. And then I have to wait through loading times and cutscenes before I can see if the changes worked.
God Nioh frustrated me.
Dark souls will not tolerate such WEAKNESS.
FNAF gave me this fear, because not only you can’t pause, esc is casually the same button you close the game with.
