Having just come back from learning about the [Veryovkina cave disaster](https://youtu.be/kNvfJYPYO60), this video is nightmare fuel.
Hoooly fuck no thank you
I’m just imagining being the last guy in the cave and then the rope comes flapping down and hits the ground in front of you and your cave pals disappear laughing.
Highly recommend *Blind Descent* by James Tabor if you found this video interesting. Unparalleled writing about doing this but in the worlds deepest caves, reaching up to 7200+ feet
That’s all kinds of “Nope” from me. While a natural formation my own “Confined Spaces” training kicks in and says without proper air monitoring and circulation devices, there is no way that I would go into a hole in the ground.
If this location is isolated enough, you might be able to find some new species that you could name after yourself.
Is this Mel’s hole, of coast to coast AM fame?
imagine you’re 3 quarters of the way down and you feel yourself getting squirrelly.
I always wanted to go into a cave like that. There’s like no caves where I live though.
I wonder what the salamanders eat down there. It’s crazy they live there if there is no way out?
When he decided to crawl into that tiny little fissure. Damn, the stuff of nightmares.
7:28 is pretty freaky
I would be scared to hike through the woods and fall into something like that
The entrance hole isn’t even remotely tight by cave standards… A bit snug but then a wide-open drop. The squeeze at 7:30 or so is definitely tight though, most people would have a really hard time fitting.
Really, though, nothing here is obviously unsafe. Natural limestone caves of this sort usually have lots of airflow and it would be quite rare for a wide-open pit like this to have meaningful amounts of bad air. (This is NOT true for mines, though. Don’t even think of entering those without air monitoring equipment. )
Holy Frick! I’d be a maybe. Maybe.
Why are they talking like it’s a bad B-movie? Does anyone actually talk like that?
Excuse me but what is cave bacon?
Impressive and nope!
The whole time I was like how the hell do they get
back up? Didn’t realize those hand grips were a thing..
I was expecting some glowing eyes to pop open down there as the last guy ascended.
wow
Wow, I can’t believe places like this exist on earth; a totally alien environment just down a short hole. I too, was worried about the disruption of cave formations, but then I realized a video like this kinda obviates the casual observer from dropping down there. Cool stuff.
the species that live on that cave floor just had an “alien visitation” story that will be told for many generations
4:45 in this video is straight up [this scene in Alien](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glzYdm7of_E).
Think he found Nekron
They missed a great opportunity for a jump scare. Bringing a scary mask along could have done the trick.
Imagine someone disconnected the rope up top
Have they not watched ‘The Descent’…..
Man…something you guys should invest in is a vaguely decent field recorder and microphone setup. High quality recordings of unusual locations like this could probably make for a cool SFX library to sell! Just takes some patience as you gotta be quiet while it records.
Anyway, that’s where my old audio designer brain went. What a crazy find, such beautiful formations and critters! I hope it’s marked well so no one can fall in accidentally or something?
7:29 fuck that fuck that fuck that
I used to be adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee. Now I’m claustrophobic af. Holy crap man.
his friends go up first then cask of amontillado him
“Yeaaah…I’d have to take my harness off to even get in there.”
*Proceeds to take off harness and get in there*
Spelunkers are a special breed.
crazy how vertical distance always seem wayyy worse than horizontal, like 220 feet is nothing its like 30 Shaqs stacked on top of each other but going vertically it just seems way more
