Yup. Bought those as a kid
filled with powdered sugar so when you blow in them it creates a puff of smoke
They sold these from ice-cream trucks when I was a kid. My parents would get pissed when I bought them.
“Distributed By Philip Morris Intl.”
Makes you look cool 😎
>SURGEON GENERALS AGREE:
Candy cigarettes are tastier and more healthy than real cigarettes.
“Are ya’ smoking, son?” /s
I loved them as a kid!
I remember these. It was like holding a piece of chalk. Incidentally, they tasted like a piece of chalk.
Bonus fact: I discovered if you snapped one in half in the dark they created a tiny spark. Probably a reason they don’t make them anymore. Probably several, actually.
I should buy some so I can take as many paid breaks as my smoking workmates.
“No Timmy, Newports are $8 Bucks a Pack, and Inflation is on the way, I think it’s time for you to start slinging on the Corner.” “Can I bum a Smoke, The Balls on this Kid.”
100% had these as a kid
You know what I got for Christmas this year? It was a banner f’ing year at the old Bender family.
In NZ we had Spaceman Rockets that didn’t look like rockets, they looked like cigarettes. I’m convinced they’re sold by cigarette companies trying to… what’s the word… prepare the kids for wanting to smoke.
What’s the word? Like when pedos prepare kids. You know what I mean.
Update: Grooming! Cigarette companies are grooming kids to smoke when they grow up.
I miss those
These were the jam. Would buy them in the 90s on school skate night at Sparkles roller rink.
Recommended by 4 out of 5 dentists.
Lol, these things. The store by my house has them.
Does this mean I can leave for a pack and find where my dad went?
Feels like something that could be well posted in r/agedlikemilk
Also, loved these as a kid rofl.
This was probably wholesome as hell for the time.
Candy cigarettes, popeyes bubble gum cigarettes, liquorice cigars and pipes…
Oh and bubble gum that was shredded and put in a pouch like chewing tobacco
Joe camel liked these!
Showing my age here. I remember buying those at the corner store. It had a lot of 1¢ candy selection.
I remember those in the 1960s. Everybody smoked . . . tobacco. They were terrible candies.
I remember these as a kid…
Oh wow never seen orange here in Western Australia, I only ever saw the standard type loved em
At least CANDY is clearly identified.
Nowaday you don’t get that honesty on so many harmful products.
Does the kid go to buy them and never come back too?
Everyone wonders why boomers are fucked in the head…
Had those. Don’t smoke either.
LOL: “No lighter required!”
Candy cigs tasted pretty good but I remember even as a kid I thought that pretending to smoke was a dork move lol.
I was born in the 80s. I definitely remember candy cigarettes and they definitely tasted like crap.
They didn’t even taste good but we all liked them because we thought we could look cool for a second.
I 💯 used to buy these at IGA
For the naysayers who whine about their lost childhood:
These are still made today. Most novelty shops sell them. And they still taste like chaulk and sawdust.
Can my kid go for a pack and never come back just like Grandpa?
I was on a cross country team and we bought these and did our warm up jog smoking them when facing a rival team. The looks on their faces, to see us jogging with cigarettes in our mouths, it was pretty good.
Yes I’m dating myself but I preferred the gum cigarettes. They were dusted with corn starch and had paper just like a real cigarette. One end was colored a hot red.
If you puffed through one end the corn starch would puff out the other end. “Just like Momma!”
TBH, nasty tasting gum though. Kinda like Pepto Bismol.
I remember buying these from the ice cream truck in the early 90s.
Born in 86 in England and there were two types here…the all-sugar sticks which were always a little bent and snipped off at the ends, and the posher chocolate (using that term loosely) one’s wrapped in edible paper which came in a fancy
box that looked like cigarette packets from a western
and gum cigars
I miss this, it was fun to pretend to smoke
