It’s never too late to try something. You’ll regret it more if you never try and you age out of the opportunity. Don’t have any specific expectations for yourself, just give it your best shot, practice on your own if you can, and have fun.
Never too late! I started out as a bum with no working legs after a tragic incident where I fell into a deep pit.
Fast forward 4-5 seasons* and I work for the FBI, have my own “educational” karate show for children, and a smokin wife.

My advice for any 12 yo: Do whatever you want to do and get off social media.
