Don’t eat it. It’s a trap.
I’d be furious if you cut my internet xD
Me:”You’ve ruined my gaming weekend…but this cake shall suffice as tribute!”
Best you can do is writing your WiFi password on the cake.
Nice cake!
“… also I’m returning the yard tools I borrowed from you.”
My neighbours after cutting the line just said, “oh, we thought that was an old wire”. No cake for us.
Nothing worse than when someone cuts your internet linen
Oopsie! I hope they forgive you.
Then you find out they were all diabetic, so you had to make a “Sorry I put you into a coma” sugar free cake.
On Obi-Wan weekend? You’ve got some serious amends to make.
I think that’s super nice! Way to go OP. You are a great neighbor!
Internet Linen
Always call 811 before you dig! It’s 100% free to use and they’ll mark any and all lines in your work area. Communications lines (such as phone and internet) can be run as shallow as only an inch down. Even your electric and gas is only about 6-8 inches, well within striking distance of a shovel and if you hit one of those, it could be deadly.
Always, always, always, call 811 before digging anywhere.
Better internet than any other utility line.
Call Before You Dig… 811 folks.
I’d be furious..should be 2 cakes. One won’t last without the internet to keep me busy!!
Utility locator here, can confirm that those communication lines run very shallow unless you already have a duct of some kind running to your house. Gas and electric are usually pretty deep at least where I’m from. By law they have to be 24 to 36 inches under ground but I have seen some shallow gas and electric lines too. Never hurts to call and get it checked out better to be safe then sorry. plus it keeps people like me in a job haha. Hopefully it wasn’t a fiber optic cable and just a coaxial comcast cable which can be easily spliced back together.
This is the reason all underground wiring should be placed in schedule 40 conduit. Depending on where you are 1-2 inches is normal. Some places less than 6 inches conduit is required. To save $$ companies go on the cheap and direct bury without conduit and claim it’s 6″ than use settling and water alleviation to get away with a direct bury less than 6″.
Call before you dig?
The letters on the cake are toothpaste
Should have made it a custard pie at least, that looks like it will hurt when they smack it in to your face.
Oof, especially nowadays with so many people working from home. Spent half a day unable to work last month because the neighbors cut the line installing a new driveway.
Call 411 before you dig *psa noises*
Call before you dig man. It’s free
What a beautiful colour.
My old neighborhood got fiber optic service and those lines laid on top of the ground and across the road for YEARS. Repeatedly getting broken and repaired. I have no idea what they were thinking with that nonsense.
You’re the kind of neighbour i want to live next to
811
The cake should have a 404 error message on it
You need to share where you live so we can report the murder that is about to happen when they go a few hours without that fix
1-3 inches??? Wow, glad I live in Canada our
standard is 3 feet.
