I love this one the best.
I always enjoyed that angle, I’m not saying I wished they kept it but I did enjoy it I think it made a return in Chinatown wars or something like that. Crazy how far the game has came since then.
#GOURANGA!
Gamers today won’t understand how revolutionary it was to get into ANY car you wanted in the game.
So many fond memories of this, GTA london and GTA 2. They were real pioneers.
Oh, an absolute classic. Today’s gamers won’t understand how we managed to navigate the city with a paper map that came in the box. You had to pause the game, figure out a route and get to that spray booth quick smart.
I also remember the lyrics to one of the background tracks, “Blood, guts, determination, to steal what you can and run from the Nation.”
I’m off to look this up on Steam…
Ahh thanks, you’ve activated the nostalgia portion of my brain
Damn I miss this game. Found a cheat where if you hold a grenade, you can jump from building to building (when you spam jump). So technically flying.
Remember playing the demo over and over taking turns with my brother and trying to do as much as we could since it has a time limit lol.
Never found the other cities as fun as the liberty city in this game. I still remember the OST for this game too.
Dude i remember talking about this with a couple of people not long ago. They had no clue what this was lol
This is the first game I can remember having to prove my age to purchase. Not sure if that was a law in my state or just something the store did. My and my friends played this endlessly.
Killllll frenzy!
Top down view GTAs were the best. GTA 2 was awesome for its days. I want to play a remastered version of it.
Can they release this for mobile. Would love to play it again.
I remember parents freaking out about GTA saying it would turn all the kids into criminals. 🤣🤣.
This is why Rockstar Game is still Rockstar Game.
Absolutely revolutionary.
And the passage from 2d to 3d in Gta3 was even more revolutionary.
Jeez.
What a time to be a gamer.
It was fantastic.
Thank you SO much for posting this
Gauranga! This was THE BEST multiplayer game of its time by a wide margin.
Bro I fucking LOVED this game as a kid.
Ah yes, the good old days when games were made out of bytes and men were made out of flesh, bit like these days.
I did spend lot of time on GTA though, never did many missions, just driving around with cars… or getting a tank.
Man I remember stacking so many cars up then driving that petrol tanker straight into it.
Or running over that group of chicken men who walked in a long line.
Was a blast as a child
I member
The car with white stripes on it was my fave. So fast.
Oh man, so many house playing this. I never did have 2x voodoo graphics cards for the extra resolution. It was glorious and I miss it
Crazy to think a few countries banned gta 1 & 2
Best GTA game ever!!!!
“Let’s go for a joyride” – amazing game with an amazing soundtrack. Also on the PS version you could start the game pause it and put in a CD to listen to while you played the game. Blew my mind all those years ago.
What a time to be alive
I couldn’t enjoy this game mainly because of the camera constantly zooming in and out like that when you drive. It really messed with my head.
The controls were a nightmare but fun as hell
Throwing Molotov was fun.
Da Shootaz – Joyride https://youtu.be/JYy69qOJWoM
Makin bacon!
Oh man I do NOT miss that camera.
r/oldschoolcool
I remember playing this, I got on top of a building and found some molotovs. I did not know how they worked and molotoved myself (you had to hold down throw power), I fell off the building and was miraculously ok. Then a car ran me over.
Burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp burp
This game was ground breaking at the time. I miss these days!
Remember the line of orange shirt pedestrians? My most memorable moments in the early GTA’s is finding them and trying to run them all over. I wonder what they were all about
Fucking loved this game. Sliding over the Hare Krishna group is something I fondly remember!
Holy hell is that camera nauseating. It didn’t feel like that back in the day
Looks better then the remakes
I still play this from time to time.
It’s sad that most people who played it never had an idea how this game looked with a Voodoo Glide on. It was an immediate generation jump.
HANGTHEDJ
I remeber playing this on a nokia phone lol
I would absolutely love a new GTA like this but with a ton more content and the same graphics.
Only the most skilled would try to drive a superbike.
