“Tiger”? Where would that dude get “tiger” for a name?
Seems like a strange name since I’m pretty sure tigers didn’t naturally inhabit North America
How did native Americans know about tigers?
Beautiful!
From Quara and Navajo language wikipedia page on Tigers. Náshdóítsoh noodǫ́zígíí:
“Navajo is one Native language among many. It is in the Na-Dene family, one of the major language families in America. It is spoken by about 180,000 people. In Navajo it is easy to make new words and it has very few borrowed words. The Navajo word for tiger is náshdóítsoh noodǫ́zígíí. The word náshdóítsoh means “mountain lion”. It is made up of the words for “wild cat” and “big”. noodǫ́zígíí means “the one that is striped ”.
So your pinky toe can curl in even if you don’t wear Nike as a kid.
Is this a painting or a photograph??
Those feet. That man is a predator out on the landscape.
This was taken in a studio and not in nature. Wonder why.
They had a word for tiger? They’re not too common around those areas
