I don’t really like this kind of false dichotomy. There’s no reason he can’t hold down a regular job while having a hobby on the side until his hobby becomes financially successful. Especially since he could do digital art instead.
What one wishes to do should not be the primary concern … one should be aware of the financial gain it provides … but that’s a different Art to master.
