Heeey they lady just copied the whole McDonald’s commercial, that’s fucked up
We learned this as a song in middle school choir and I didn’t get the true meaning till after I was in high school.
Pay attention kids….no auto tune.
Sponsored by British Petroleum wtf ?
Berlin? She says during the song she is in Melbourne, Australia
Legend
Truly the pumped up kicks of their generation.
One in a million; never surpassed! Her voice lives on, the embodiment of hope and beauty.
So couple interesting things: this is in Australia, not Berlin.
Ms. Fitzgerald forgets her lyrics about 3/4 way through and yet improvises lyrics perfectly for the rest of the song
Ms. Fitzgerald’s version of this song is the only one that achieves that true jazzy feel. Everyone else’s feel like a cheesy Las Vegas lounge act’s version (IMHO)
Ms. Fitzgerald’s dress is covered entirely in glass bugle beads. They are each one about the length of a tic tak and about as big around as a piece of spaghetti. Each one has a tiny hole running through it in which EACH ONE has to be threaded and hand sewn onto the dress. It probably weighs like 30 pounds. Now go re-look at that dress and think about somebody threading and sewing each one of those beads onto that dress.
It’s always so cool to see her young and full. She was a skinny lil old lady in a wig by the time most of us met her lol
