The king! I’ve watched this so many times and it never gets old. RIP King Edward.
The greatest of all time.
I remember watching this in maybe 87 or 88. I was 17 or 18, it must of been on Mtv or something. It blew me away and made me love VH even more. Eddy and Alex were just so gifted and made it look so easy
I’m going to open a can of worms here…..who was better Eddie or Randy Rhoads?
Fuck I want a cigarette
Damn, I miss this guy!
I was a young boy watching this in 86 or 87 and knew, right there, that Eddie Van Halen was a GOD. You can watch this with the sound off and it’s still amazing.
Just remembered, he’s gone.
The greatest of all time?
Yeah. Yeah he was the greatest of all time.
RIP EVH.
Legend
Man this guy was fucking amazing. I remember watching this repeatedly. I finally saw him in 1992 at my first concert ever (I was 15). He was still in his prime then. I saw him again in 2004. He wasn’t quite as energetic then, but it was cool to see him bring a young Wolfgang on stage with him.
RIP King Edward
Did a class presentation on Van Halen at high school.
My presentation consisted of me speaking for about one minute then showing this entire solo on the VHS player we were allowed to use.
My teacher wasn’t happy but my classmates loved it.
Holy crap. Love this video. When I was younger and would come home drunk to my apartment I’d always play this scene, grab a broom stick and jam out.
Legendary RIP brother 😇❤️💯
Wait this isn’t “eyes of the world “ without a net 1989 .
Geez. What a badass!
Unpopular opinion incoming. Technically he could show off with the best of them. Wish I felt like there was more soul/connection/musicality in his performances.
He was a rock god.
I could watch this every day, and never get tired of it.
I mean, it’s only been 35 years…
RIP to my grandfather and EVH, the two men who taught me how to play. Pop Pop got me going on the basics, and EVH taught me everything else! 🤟🏻😑🤟🏻
He’s playing Bach
F&$K YEAH!!!!
If I recall correctly, according to Sammy Hagar, this is the part of the show where he, Alex and Mike would have sex with groupies under the stage.
May the legend always be revered.
I love Eddie, but I can’t watch this without thinking of Nigel Tufnel.
Me: “I’ve seen this before, I’m just gonna watch a couple minutes and then move on.”
(Proceeds to watch the entire thing)
You got me again, Eddie.
Also I want to add that I fucking love the way Alex’s drums sound for this concert.
I should have gone seen him back then but I didn’t get into that harder rock stuff until later. Every guy that picked up a guitar in the 80’s wanted to be Eddie Van Halen. Or at least play Eruption.
No cocaine was harmed during the making of this video
One of the best. The talent lost was felt when he passed. They don’t make them like they used to. RIP Eddie. You know he’s jamming with the greats up above.
Best 11 minutes of my week
Fantastic Eddie solo. However I think his genius is more evident on the extended summer nights version. Same live show. Check it out.
I saw Van Halen in 78 or 79 & knew that I was witnessing an expert who was going somewhere.
The whole group was incredibly insane and electrifying!
Musically, acrobatic and energetic.
I also became one of the few kids in my school who had seen them live.
I truly miss him.
As a old rocker I still love watching this. I introduced my son to rock and we always rocked out in the car when he was young. He wanted to learn guitar when he was 12. We took guitar lessons together for many years. I took him to several great rock shows like AC/DC. He started a band when he was was 14. He has been in a band ever since and he is 38 now.
Oh so that’s why people love evh
I’ve seen this dozens of times. So I watched it again. And then I went to the beginning, and watched it again. Thanks.
I love seeing Cathedral live. Coolest guitar sound ever. GD he was amazing.
Glad i got to see them live back in the day. Legendary concert. My dad took me ill never forget.
Jesus Fuck-cicle… That’s so good
this was my first time experiencing this performance.
thank you!
Eruption is the best thing ever.
Fuckin GOAT!!!
proof positive than they don’t make em like they use to!! thank you for this
I did a rendition of this at my high school talent show. All in all it was about 12 to 15 minutes long. in hindsight it was probably really fucking annoying to listen to but at the time I thought I was cool
Van Halen not Van Hagar…
