This is stupid and wasteful, but african leopards are not endangered. I get you’re picking low-hanging fruit here, but it’s already pretty low, no need to pretend like it’s lower.

Not speaking specifically for Eric and don jr situation but the vast majority of big game hunts are carefully managed and help fund animal conservation projects. If someone wants to hunt an elephant, for example, they have to pay a VERY high premium in advance which goes back to the parks and one (or possibly several) that are beyond mating age are chosen. To my knowledge, it is relocated to a designated hunting area away from the rest. They’re not going to let you kill a mating age endangered species. Still would never do it myself

Most exotic hunts are very regulated and are to kill nuisance animals. Obviously there is poaching but anyone that is willing to take a picture and post it did it legally or is very dumb. Just so happens that these hunts are incredibly expensive so mostly rich assholes take part.

The Amur leopard in east Asia is listed as endangered, and leopards as a whole are listed as “near threatened” This was probably legal and the money they spent to do this likely goes towards some kind of conservation effort. That’s how a lot of hunting tourism works.

Let’s not do this whole “My political enemy and anyone associated with him is evil!” thing. For starters, this is a common business practice on reservations. Rich people from around the world will pay reservations to fly over and kill an exotic animal. The reason they allow this is because typically the animals that are killed are problem-animals that harm other animals in the species or have something wrong with them. Or even if they aren’t problem-animals, the species at that time is abundant enough to hunt. The proceeds go towards the reservation and actually assists in the conservation of that species.

In this specific instance, this is from a 2012 trip to Zimbabwe where they killed a variety of animals from water buffalo to the leopard pictured here. According to the Trump’s, they followed local laws and practices and even donated the meat to local villages. That’s as far as this case goes and it doesn’t seem anything nefarious took place. I would suggest if you want to get mad, get mad at actual poachers. You can disagree with this practice, but it is inarguable that allowing it to happen does further conservation efforts and helps revitalize habitats and species.

Not defending these turds but most photos like this are misleading. You can’t usually just shoot wild animals like that. It doesn’t matter who you are. You’ll be arrested. Conservation of endangered animals relies on hunting the old males that threaten the younger generatIon and their future. People paying money to hunt them so the only reason the species is protected.

On perfectly manicured grass, no less. How much you wanna bet they shot it 10 seconds after it was released from a cage?

I do not understand trophy hunting.

I’ve done tons of hunting over the years, especially when I was young.
Was always taught that you kill for food.
