Didn’t even know this existed. Also didn’t know that the term “plug” goes back that far.
Well, Wells, Welles….
War of the Worlds, Adolph Hitler, a plug for Citizen Kane……it’s like someone from the future made this up and deep faked all of it into one very short segment. Incredible
I’ve been getting these guys mixed up for my whole life. Actually, I didn’t even mix them up I’m pretty sure I just thought they were the same person
I said “shortly” but it’s actually two years later, shortly after Orson made *Citizen Kane*. In this video, they discuss the film, the *War of the Worlds* radio broadcast, and how Hitler used the War of the Worlds incident in one of his speeches. There’s also some discussion of World War II in relation to H.G.’s work.
I was thinking wtf is Nigel Mansel doing there…
“If I don’t misunderstand you completely, I think there’ll be a lot of jolly good new noises in it” in reference to Citizen Kane is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
