Did she ever say why she left the industry?
Love this song along with others of Billy’s. This particular performance is pretty brilliant
Love her music, including this song and others, but can someone clarify for me… what exactly is this song about?
Last I heard, she was found living in a gated community near Memphis, TN. This would be around 2016-17.
She did it her way; produced her own stuff, played her own stuff, and, wen she got bored, left on her terms.
Cool!
The same thing happened with Lauren Hewett the Australian actress, She Did some great shows and movies then disappeared. There is not even a single photo of her on the internet after 2002
Genius slice of life songwriting. I used to cover this in my first band, good times
Never heard of her, I love it. Thank you.
Never heard of her, I love it. Thank you.
Ooooooooooooof. So talented, so beautiful. I’ve known the song since I was a little kid, but never knew who sang/wrote it, nor paid attention to the lyrics.

LOVE it.
Damn she’s lovely 🥰

A favorite song of mine ❤️
Boy, she recognized Billy Joel’s talent before anyone.
Ohhh that c7 ❤️ I learned this song it’s easy actually. Remembering all the words tho ..
I remember when that came out. It crossed over and played on pop stations and country stations. Mind you back then country was real country. Not the trash produced today. Great talent.
I worked on a project with her in the 1990s in Washington State. It was part of a Native American event. I remember she drove a classic corvette. Still very beautiful then
What in the heck did they throw offa that bridge?
This touched me
Oh, I love her! I have an album of her and Glen Campbell that I just about wore out when I was a kid.
I remember the summer of 68. This song really meshed with America at that time.
Incredible voice. I hope she continued to make music even if just for herself
But there is one more verse!! I’ll start …
A year has come and gone since we heard yhe news about Billy Joe …
If anyone is interested in learning more about Bobbie, the podcast Cocaine & Rhinestones did an episode about her in season one. Fantastic episode!
Do yourself a favor and listen to her duets with Glen Campbell – Sunday Morning is a personal favorite
There’s a movie based on this song that she helped make.
I forget whether it was good or not, I saw it last year
It was a BABY!
I just hope she’s happy with the life she’s chosen since she retired from singing, whatever it is that she chose to do.
I always had the sense that she was a really thoughtful, intellectual person. Probably didn’t fit in too well in Mississippi.
Wow… I think I just developed a crush on her. She’s incredibly beautiful and talented.
I just went down a Bobbie Gentry rabbit hole watching YouTube vids.
