I feel like this is a relatively modern thing. Growing up, we were raised that commitments had to be kept and how we felt was irrelevant. Now it’s impossible to make and follow through with any plans, because someone tries to abandon them at the last minute.
If only people actually cancelled like this instead of coming up with some weird vague excuse why they can’t make it. Just say you don’t want to.

Do people really schedule things knowing they’re going to cancel? I always look forward to doing things with friends. Don’t make a commitment if you already know you don’t want to go.
