Honestly, my dad wasn’t far from this, but there was never any hard drugs. Which my dad said, “Don’t do them, because you’ll love them and you won’t want to stop.” Of all things that’s stuck me me my whole life. I’ve stuck to weed and some alcohol, and it was OK. I was doing things early though.

Imagine being such a terrible person that you are willing to go on camera and admit these things for the record. Dude is a total fucking creep.

    Absolute creep.

The bit in Mark Lanegan’s memoir (Sing Backwards And Weep) where he talks about him always stood out to me.

I met Blackie when I was 11 years old, performing in a musical (Annie Get Your Gun) at the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Civic Theatre.

He was in the cast (for whatever reason), and pulled me aside to coach my stage voice. I remember he would run up and down the aisles and have me repeat my lines to make sure I would be heard from the back of the theatre.

Came across as a genuinely nice guy, and I remember feeling so special that an adult treated me like an adult. I’ll never forget it.

He also told me he met Mel Gibson when he played a bit part in Lethal Weapon.

Dude is a horrible role model but he was a product of the times.

Americans in the 60s and 70s were hedonistic, doped up party animals. Attitudes about kids were a lot different. Kids wanted to be treated like adults and media encouraged it.
