Aw! You could just see his face light up with pride! Good for him
I was so happy for him. Really, what are the chances?

Man this video and anything with that British guy that loves trains always makes my day. Such a delight
One of my favorite videos on the internet
What happened in that round? Why was the BBC interviewing these people about it?
BBC reporter interviews random people on the street about a football match 48 years ago and meets a goalkeeper that played in said game.
This must have been made living all worth it. To have your dreams and accomplishments remembered in such a meaningful way while still alive doesn’t happen often enough.
I’d love to know why a BBC reporter was asking people about such a specfic game and expecting people to remember it
THEN THIS HAPPENS
The joy in his face. =]
My bro and I had a whole football team made of our teddy bears. Liverpool players. Roger Hunt. Emlyn. Ian st John. Callaghan. Obviously, Tommy Lawrence, In goal. A tiny little kitty teddy bear thing. My bro still has it. We are in our sixties. Childhood hero. My bro is going to the match later in the week. I grew up to hate soccer. Still hate it.
radical
There’s just something about old people getting excited that is the most adorable thing in the world. An elderly, subdued, perhaps even slightly absent-minded person, suddenly being alert, 100% present, with a face that just lights up in a grin.
It’s like that video with the little old lady who always wanted her hair dyed green. I live for those moments.
This has been shared around LFC media channels so many times, crops up again every few months – but fuck me, does it make me smile.
Really is a small world sometimes
“Of course I know him. He’s me!”

I was there – 3000 years ago! – Elrond the footballer
Then *what* happens? fucking clickbait.
And he ended up a maester in the Night’s Watch. Quite a man.
“Can ya remind me of your name”? What a pleasant way to ask without making it weird or awkward.
Can I keep him?
This happened to me once!
I was at a random Christmas party with a bunch of older people. For whatever reason, we started talking about College BB and I went off on a tangent about John Wooden and how good those UCLA teams were back in the 60s and 70s.
This old guys face lit up like a Christmas tree. Turns out he played for UCLA during that time period. Told me a couple of crazy stories about the culture around campus at the time, getting paid under the table, etc. I immediately looked him up on my phone to confirm he was legit, but this was like 7 years ago and I can’t remember what player it was. For the Internet sleuths, he was a Black guy, living in the Riverside area. I don’t recall him being taller than 6’2-ish (I feel like if he were exceptionally tall that would stick out in my memory). I believe he grew up in LA, he played for UCLA for at least 2 seasons, and I want to say he was a starting G on one of the championship teams.
This made me cry. I’m getting older and life goes so fast. It is nice to remember special moments.
fuck your click bait title repost.
YNWA Tommy
Of course I know him. He’s me.
