    I play with my fiancé who does the same thing but wouldn’t have a clue what stun locking is and if she did, wouldn’t know how to do it on purpose

    The fuck is a stunlock? You mean a jail or a reset? I don’t think anyone in this comment section actually plays fighting games. Stun lock would be in like monster hunter or like idk botw when you get hit and you’re stuck in hit stun then you get hit again, but it’s not called that in any fighting game because it doesn’t work the same. You literally can not be stun locked in any modern fighting game

    If it’s a fighting game, chances are the stunlock isn’t actually preventing you from playing. You just don’t know when it’s time to block. My brother stopped playing me in Street Fighter IV because he “Doesn’t get to play.” The fucker never blocks. He’s literally walking into my shitty combos and expecting something to change.

    I’m gonna be honest. I will refuse to use my mains in fighting games to give my friends and family a more fun experience. However, the first time I hear, “Wow with zero practice I’m better than you” all bets are off and you’re not touching the ground again.

    My approach to fighting games is that once I’ve established my place in that group’s pecking order, I chill out. It’s more fun to help people level up when you’re way ahead skill wise. There’s definitely a time and place to layeth the smacketh down, but there’s also a time and place to say things like, “Hey, try using a reversal like blahblahblah after that.” or, “Try blahblah after the 3rd hit”.

    It’s also on newer players to not just mindlessly mash, too. Go through your options. Block. Try different pokes. Try different timings on your pokes. If you get hit, stop panic mashing. Take something away from each loss. There’s always information to glean.

    Why shouldn’t he use that combo if it’s the most efficient way to fight you with the tools he’s given, how to get good at any game is to learn how to play it optimally / as efficiently as possible. If the game gives him an unfair set of tools, then it’s bad game design and not on him.

    So do you mean jail or reset since I never heard someone refer to it as stun lock. Either way there’s usually a work around of just blocking until it’s your turn when they ain’t at frame advantage.

    Oncey friend got frustrated because im constantly using the same moves…. The thing is, there were no other moves…. It was dc vs mortal combat Type of a game and i just mastered scorpion and used all his combos. He wasnt happy.

    There’s only like 4 fighting games people actually play with true 0-death combos in them. FighterZ and Smash bros are two of them, the rest are much less widely played

    If your friend is 0-death-ing you in these games, then you probably shouldn’t be playing with that friend

    My best friend will never forgive me for blowing our chance to hook up with 2 girls over stun locking in Killer Instinct. My buddy knew these 2 cute girls that we ran into at a bar, and hit it off pretty well. They talked about how they were so great at fighting games and would crush us, I love fighting games and pretty girls, so I was pumped. We go to their place and start playing Killer Instinct, I hadn’t played in years but I did love it when it came out so I was just rusty at first. All they would do is get you in the corner and stun lock trip you to death. It’s a shitty move, but whatever, the thing that was annoying was how much shit they talked while doing it like they were amazing at the game. I guess they were just used to dudes letting them play like that and talk shit cause they were just happy to be hooking up, but not me! I was like OK I know your game, and then preceded to fucking wreck them, beating them traditionally and by using their own tactics, and talked shit just like them while doing it. It totally destroyed the mood, they basically told us to get the fuck out. I got lectured the whole way home.
