A bit of explanation: the lyrics to this song are William Shakespeare’s “Lover and His Lass” from his play *As You Like It*. My town puts on a very high quality Shakespeare in the Park every summer, and since many Shakespeare plays have songs, including lyrics but no given music, the theatre company has taken to having local musicians write melodies and perform accompaniment to the songs. *As You Like It* is a very rural, folksy play, so a local bluegrass artist was a natural fit. There’s a whole EP of the other songs he did for the play called *As Y’all Like It*, but this one is by far the standout.
